This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 28

7:09 p.m.: Joseph J. Moore, 46, of Sedalia, and Seth C. Hall, 33, of the 700 block of East 16th Street, were arrested after officers were dispatched to a theft at a business in the 4400 block of Wisconsin Avenue. Officers observed the subject vehicle in the parking lot of another business and made contact with the two subjects, one fitting the description given by the first business. Moore was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and placed on a 24-hour hold pending a charge of shoplifting. Hull was arrested for shoplifting and driving with a suspended license.

July 29

12:33 a.m.: Timothy Lee Wood, 29, of the 4000 block of Cardinal Drive, was arrested after officers responded to the 1200 block of South Carr Avenue in reference to a physical disturbance involving two subjects. One subject ran from officers but was apprehended after a short pursuit. Wood was arrested for third-degree assault, second-degree property damage, and resisting arrest. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.

8:18 a.m.: Timothy Lee Wood, 29, of the 4000 block of Cardinal Drive, was again arrested after officers responded to the 1000 block of South Carr Avenue for a theft. Officers discovered that someone broke into the caller's vehicle and stole approximately $400 worth of items. The suspect is known and is in custody pending formal charges. 

4:57 p.m.: Richard D. Thomas, 63, of the 800 block of East 19th Street, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to a business in the 1800 block of West Main Street in reference to harassment. A suspect had called the business more than 60 times and made threats to employees. Thomas was contacted and placed under arrest pending a charge of harassment.

July 30

3:57 p.m.: Keston Billy, 32, of the 500 block of East 16th Street, was arrested after officers conducted a vehicle stop near State Fair Boulevard and West Third Street for no front plate. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license and transported to the SPD where he was booked and released.

Incidents

July 29

12:27 p.m.: An officer responded to the 300 block of East Second Street for a theft from an unlocked vehicle. The caller stated his vehicle was entered overnight and a few items were stolen with a total value of $85. There are no suspects.

3 p.m.: Officers took a report in the SPD lobby from a person who stated a laptop was stolen from his home in the 600 block of North Quincy Avenue. A suspect is known at the time of the report.

3:25 p.m.: A man came to the SPD lobby to report theft from his two storage units. The victim stated that between July 17 and July 28 someone took $575 worth of items from his two storage units. 

8:08 p.m.: An officer took a report of a theft that occurred midday in the 500 block of South Summit Avenue. The victim reported that her vehicle was entered and miscellaneous items valued at $300 were stolen.

7:26 p.m.: Michael Schaefer, 38, of the 900 block of South Grand Avenue, was issued a summons after officers responded to the 900 block of South Prospect Avenue for a disturbance. A victim wished to pursue charges against the suspect for animal at large.

July 30

2:08 p.m.: Jeffrey R. Stone, 45, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to a business in the 1700 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a trespassing. An employee had asked a customer to leave the store, the customer refused to leave and threw ketchup packets at the employee. Stone was arrested for harassment to frighten or disturb another person and first-degree trespass.

Arrests

July 28

12:24 a.m.: Dustin Love, of La Monte, was arrested for first-degree rape or attempted rape and child molestation. Love remains in the Pettis County Jail on a $250,000 bond. 

July 29

1:19 p.m.: Johnny Sherman Pardee Jr., of Sedalia, was arrested on a warrant for statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy from an incident in August 2020 and remains in the Pettis County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

Incidents

July 27

10:51 a.m.: Deputies took a report of illegal dumping of trash in the area of U.S. Highway 65 and Smasal Road in Pettis County. There were no leads or suspects at the time of the report.

July 29

3 p.m.: Deputies responded to the area of 17000 of Dove Road in Pettis County in reference to a physical altercation. This investigation was closed pending a juvenile referral.
