This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

May 7

10:05 a.m.: Justin L. Pruitt, 29, of the 1900 block of South Park Avenue, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue for a traffic violation. The driver was discovered in possession of marijuana, was arrested, and transported to the Pettis County Jail. 

7:20 p.m.: Gordell Eugene Poindexter, 30, of the 500 block of West Cooper Street, was arrested after officers responded to the 400 block of West Cooper Street for a report of possible drug activity. At the residence, a male subject was recognized to have an active arrest warrant. The warrant was later confirmed and the male suspect was arrested. A search incident to arrest found Poindexter in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail, provided no bond and placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana. 

9:09 p.m.: Alexander Rhea Logan, 23, of the 800 block of West 16th Street, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South State Fair Boulevard and West Main Street for a license violation. Rhea, an occupant of the vehicle, was found in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested. 

10:44 p.m.: Teresa A. Estes, 51, of the 2900 block of Keith Allen Drive, was issued a citation after officers conducted a vehicle search in the 3900 block of South Limit Avenue and found the passenger in possession of marijuana.

May 9

1:06 p.m.: Christopher D. Cowles, 46, of the 1800 block of East Seventh Street, was arrested after a traffic stop on Seventh Street for numerous traffic violations. An officer made contact with the driver who stated he had no driver's license. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released for driving with a suspended driver's license.

2:08 a.m.: David J.W. Peak, 36, of the 1200 block of South Park Avenue, was arrested after officers conducted a subject check near the 2900 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The subject fled on foot and was captured after a brief foot pursuit. During a search, he was found in possession of a large amount of methamphetamine and was arrested for delivery of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

4:33 a.m.: Jonathon Bryce Holland, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers conducted a subject check in the parking lot of 319 W. Third St. The intoxicated subject broke a window of a parked van and was kicking the side of the van when officers arrived. He was arrested for first-degree property damage. 

Incidents

May 7

1:05 p.m.: An officer met for an assist agency call with the Children's Division to ask a juvenile some questions. The juvenile stated that a few months ago her mother's ex-boyfriend possibly assaulted her. 

10:40 p.m.: An officer responded to the 600 block of South Hancock Avenue in reference to a counterfeit bill. Management advised the officer someone had passed a fake $50 bill the evening of May 6.

May 8

10:30 p.m.: Larry W. Williams, 60, of the 400 block of West Sixth Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched in reference to an assault between a male and a female. Both subjects were identified and a municipal summons was issued for assault. 

May 9

8:12 a.m.: An officer conducted a warrant check in the 400 block of South Grand Avenue. The subject with warrants was reportedly selling drugs from the house. The subject was not located at the residence, but drugs and paraphernalia were seized from the residence. A report was completed to document the incident.

10:27 p.m.: Officers were notified of a theft that occurred in the 600 block of South Moniteau Avenue. Officers were told a purse containing debit cards and about $30 in cash was stolen from a parked vehicle. A subject of interest has been named in the case. The investigation is ongoing. 

1:29 p.m.: An officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive regarding a burglary no longer in progress. The victim reported a storage unit on a property being broken into. The items stolen were valued at $500. 

3:30 p.m.: A 17-year-old was cited after a traffic stop on a vehicle driving 77 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone of Thompson Boulevard near West 10th Street. Contact was made with the driver and a citation for careless and imprudent driving was issued.

May 10

4:41 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of McAnally Court in reference to a disturbance with weapons. A victim said a man known to her got mad and started cutting up furniture in her apartment. The victim was able to get the suspect locked out of the house. The suspect had left the area prior to the officer's arrival. A request for charges of fourth-degree domestic assault and second-degree property damage has been submitted to the prosecutor.

May 8 

2:03 a.m.: Diana Gorpinich, of Sedalia, was arrested after deputies conducted a traffic stop near West Broadway Boulevard and South Lamine Avenue for failing to display lights as required. Gorpinich was charged with driving while intoxicated.

May 10

2:35 a.m.: Austin Jumalon was arrested early Monday when deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East Fifth Street and South Lafayette Avenue for defective equipment and display of another vehicle’s license plates. Jumalon was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

May 6

8:40 p.m.: Deputies took a report of a lost wallet at a business in the 3100 block of West Broadway Boulevard.

Arrests

May 7

9:18 p.m.: Wilbur D. Marr, 58, of Rocky Mount, was arrested in Morgan County for driving while intoxicated-chronic offender, and operating a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold. 

10:20 p.m.: Curtis C. Roberts, of Dallas, Texas, was arrested in Johnson County for tampering with a motor vehicle.

May 8

2:35 p.m.: Michael A. Baez, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested in Morgan County for felony driving while intoxicated-aggravated offender, careless and imprudent driving involving a crash, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a revoked/suspended license, and resisting arrest or interfering with an arrest. Baez was transported to the Morgan County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.

8:40 p.m.: Omara Spriggs, 42, of Rocky Mount, was issued a summons in Morgan County for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. She was released with a summons.

8:50 p.m.: Shelly J. Carter, 40, of Indianapolis, was issued a summons in Morgan County for possession of fewer than 10 grams of marijuana.

May 9

12:44 a.m.: Travis R. Morris, 39, of Gravois Mills, was issued a summons in Morgan County for driving while intoxicated-first offense and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. Morris was released. 

10:33 p.m.: Roy E. Wiley, 46, of Grandview, was arrested in Johnson County for a felony warrant out of Johnson County, Kansas, driving with a revoked license, no insurance, and speeding. He was transported to the Clay County Jail with no bond set.
