This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department

Arrests

Nov. 16

8:51 p.m.: An officer responded to a business on Wisconsin Avenue for a theft. Employees stated there were two suspects inside the store who had stolen from the business on multiple occasions. Contact was made with the suspects who were placed under arrest. Thomas A. Steele, 27, of Windsor, was arrested for five counts of stealing.

Nov. 17

7:10 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a traffic complainant near East 16th Street and South Ingram Avenue. The caller stated the vehicle hit a curb, a telephone pole and almost hit several people. The vehicle was located and stopped. The driver was taken to the police department where he provided a breath sample over the legal limit. Gregory D. Robinson, 30, of Green Ridge, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Incidents

Nov. 16

11:49 a.m.: An officer spoke with a business in the 600 block of South Marshall Avenue in reference to a theft. The complainant stated over the course of several days someone had stolen approximately seven spools of wiring from the facility valued at $23,545. A large amount was found at another metals business.

Nov. 17

1:17 a.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop on West Main Street at North Missouri Avenue for the plates being expired and registered to another vehicle. The officer learned the plates had expired in 2019 but were displaying a 2020 sticker. The driver said they did not know where the 2020 stickers came from so the plates were seized. At the time of the report, an investigation was ongoing to see if the 2020 stickers had been reported stolen.

4:38 p.m.: An officer spoke with a complainant regarding a missing family member. The complainant stated on Nov. 13 a family member had walked away from the residence advising they would be right back. The individual never returned. They were entered as missing and no foul play is suspected.

11:02 p.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West 16th Street and South Prospect Avenue for a license violation. Once the officer made it to the driver’s window the vehicle fled. A short vehicle pursuit ensued on West 14th Street which was terminated. The suspect had not been located and the investigation was ongoing at the time of the report.

Incidents

Nov. 16

10:44 p.m.: Deputies took a report of a burglary in the 18000 block of Houston Road. The residence was forcibly entered and several items were taken.

Nov. 17

8:50 a.m.: Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop in the area of the 12000 block of Field Road in reference to a subject with multiple felony warrants. The four-wheeler failed to stop to lights and sirens. Deputies pursued the vehicle through a field and into a wooded area where they conducted a search and were unable to find the suspect.

Missouri State Highway Patrol

Arrests

Cameron D. Atkins, 25, of Kansas City, was arrested in Johnson County for felony leaving the scene of an accident and a misdemeanor Jackson County Sheriff’s Department warrant.
