This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Nov. 23

11:29 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of South Barrett Avenue for a man who was beating an individual. Upon officers’ arrival, they learned children had fled into another residence to get away from the suspect. Officers tried contacting the suspect who began yelling at them. The suspect entered the neighboring residence without permission to go after the children. The suspect grabbed the individual, placing him in a bear hug on the floor. According to the report, there were concerns about the safety of the children. The suspect was told to turn around and place his hands behind his back and the suspect resisted officers. He was taken into custody a short time later and was later placed in a WRAP unit due to being combative. Anthony J. Henson, 36, of the 1800 block of South Barrett Avenue, was arrested for felony third-degree assault, abuse or neglect of a child, misdemeanor fourth-degree assault, second-degree kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon, felony resisting arrest and first-degree burglary. 

Nov. 25

12:30 a.m.: An officer observed a vehicle eastbound on East Broadway Boulevard which crossed over the dashed white line around South Massachusetts Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated around South Marvin Avenue. After an investigation, it was discovered the driver was intoxicated. James A. Woodman, 68, of the 1200 block of East 18th Street, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain financial responsibility. 

Incidents

Nov. 23

7:15 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3000 block of South Limit Avenue regarding a report of shoplifting that occurred overnight. Video surveillance showed the suspect stealing $118.35 worth of merchandise. 

3:27 p.m.: A business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard reported a theft that occurred Nov. 20. The suspect entered the business and stole $100 worth of merchandise. They were identified and formal charges were being sought through the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office at the time of the report. 

Nov. 25

4:59 a.m.: Officers responded to the 400 block of Albright Court for a report of a stolen vehicle. The complainant reported their red 2015 Nissan Armada with Missouri plates was stolen overnight.
