Chickening out at Tyson sale for United Way

Posted: Friday, October 5, 2012 11:05 pm | Updated: 11:09 pm, Fri Oct 5, 2012.

Bobby Horman, left, of Marshall, takes a couple boxes of Tyson chicken breasts and breaded chicken tenders from Billie Barnes, center, and Brent Bates, in truck, on Friday afternoon during the all-day Tyson Live United Truck Sale. A portion of the proceeds from the sale go to Sedalia-Pettis County United Way in its 2012-13 quest to raise $575,000 during this year’s annual campaign. Linda Kirk, United Way executive director, said the annual Tyson sale is a welcome boon to the group’s fundraising efforts, bringing in around $5,000 last year. Kirk said 172 people, including some repeats, had stopped by the truck in the parking lot of Thompson Hills Shopping Center by early afternoon. The sale ran through 7 p.m. Friday.
