S-C students put art on display
Smith-Cotton High School sophomores Kortney Kreisler, right, and Jaclyn Taylor check out the work of fellow students at the S-C Liberty Center Mid-Year Art Show, which opened Wednesday night at the Liberty Center. Michael Shukers, S-C art teacher, said the show, which runs through March 4, features about 200 students’ pieces including paintings, pottery, illustration and other media. Shukers said instructors look as far as junior high students for up-and-coming talent and try to provide students with a broad range of opportunities for expression. “We have some excellent students,” Shukers said. “We try to mold them into artists that can handle multiple media, but they usually find one or two that they like and then they start to specialize.”
