For a fleeting moment, Carter Staunch, 9, fancied himself at the controls of a fighter plane Saturday as he sits in the cockpit of a Van RV-8A kit-built plane flown by Mark Navratil of Springhill, Kan. The Kingsville third-grader was attending the first day of the two-day Wings over Whiteman Air Show.
