April’s showers (or snow) have given way to May’s spring blossoms. The beautiful weather also means it’s time to do something truly out of the ordinary for Mom, and therefore deserving of the woman who not only brought you into this world, but fed you, clothed you and never forgot to kiss the countless bumps and bruises.

My memories of my grandfather, James Cramer, who died on March 10 at age 93, are the same as any grandkid’s: For the 34 years I knew him, he looked the same — like a grandpa.

Central Missouri Electric Cooperatives Inc. recently announced the recipients of the 2010 scholarships. Each student will receive a $500 scholarship. For students to be considered, their parents or guardians must be current members of the cooperative. Students must also attend a high school within the cooperative’s service area and meet grade point average and ACT requirements.

MARSHALL — The Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers started slow against Marshall on Monday night, but their full-court press and free-throw shooting in the last quarter kept them alive.
