    More snow falls Wednesday, adding to the wintry landscape at Centennial Park.

     Almost every parking space is taken Thursday morning on the south side of the Pettis County Courthouse.

     Beaumont, a long-haired dachshund, owned by Jacque Kesterson, of Sedalia, left, gives the audience an encore performance at the Bark in the Park event at Liberty Park after winning first place Saturday in the best howler contest. The dog also placed third in the tail wagging contest and won first place in the talent contest by rolling on his back when commanded to play dead.

     Diana Sokolowki's recently adopted beagle, Pippa, won first place in the costume contest wearing a squirrel costume at the Bark in the Park event. The young beagle seems to be expressing "nuts to this" to the whole notion of dogs wearing costumes.

    Sadie Green, 10, paints decorations on the fins to go with her paper plate fish during the Sedalia Parks and Recreation Department’s  Art in the Park activity on Tuesday at Convention Hall in Liberty Park. She and nine other kids spent the morning in the comfort of air conditioning making colorful fish, butterfly-decorated snack bags, and clay and plaster stepping stones.

     If approved by the Park Board, Vermont Park is slated for a major upgrade that adds a walking trail, two shelters, a parking lot and drainage ditch renovation.

     Another big ticket project proposed for the Sedalia Parks and Recreation's fiscal year 2013-14 is the eastward expansion of the Centennial Pool parking lot, resulting in the razing of Shelter No. 1, center. A new shelter will be built south of the parking lot, adjacent to the pool.
