Four pins carried the Smith-Cotton Tigers to a decisive 57-18 season-opening win over the St. Pius X Warriors on Thursday night at the Smith-Cotton gym. The Tigers also took advantage of five open spots in the St. Pius lineup to rack up points.

All of Smith-Cotton’s wrestlers were bumped out of the winner’s bracket on Friday, the first day of the two-day Class 3, District 4 tournament at Liberty North High School.

Smith-Cotton fell to Clinton 45-34 in a West Central Conference dual meet on Tuesday at Smith-Cotton.

About halfway through Smith-Cotton’s victory over KC East on Saturday afternoon, Smith-Cotton sophomore Wade Hagebusch walked into the S-C gym, strolled toward the bleachers and took a look at his school’s barren student section.
