It’s a new event and those planning to attend are encouraged to start working on their poker faces as Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri gears up to host Casino Night, presented by The W-K Family of Dealerships, later this week.

The fundraising event promises to be an evening of high-stakes fun featuring blackjack, roulette, craps and more, according to a press release. All proceeds benefit the more than 1,000 local children Boys & Girls Club serves each year.

“We’re very excited to bring this fun and unique fundraiser to Sedalia,” Special Events Director Andrea Smith said in the release. “I think the best part is that we have games for all abilities, so even if you’re not a big gambler, you can still have a great time for a great cause.”

As part of the ticket price, Casino Night guests will receive $50 in “BGC Bucks” or fun money to gamble with. Guests may not cash out at the end of the evening, but instead are playing for the top prize – a trip for two to Las Vegas.

“The trip includes airfare, hotel stay and tickets to a show,” Smith said. “The great part is we’re working with Wayward Wind Travel, so if the winner wants to spend a little extra time in Vegas or add a special event or meal, they can.”

A second and third-place prize will also be available to top winners.

“We’re excited to bring this new fundraising event to Sedalia and give our Boys & Girls Club supporters an opportunity for a little high-stakes fun for a great cause,” Smith said. “We’d especially like to thank our presenting sponsor, The W-K Family of Dealerships for their continued support of the Club.”

A limited number of tickets are still available for the event.

Casino Night begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 13 at The Venue in downtown Sedalia. Tickets are $25 and include $50 in fun money to gamble with, heavy hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 826-8331 or visit
