This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 1

8:45 p.m.: James A. Wright, 32, of the 1400 block of South Ohio Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Wright’s vehicle near South Limit Avenue and Tiger Pride Boulevard. Through investigation, he found Wright to have been driving with a suspended license. He also had three active warrants.

Aug. 2

3:30 a.m.: Gage Anderson Fancher, 18, of the 1600 block of South Ingram Avenue, was arrested on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol. An officer responded to a disturbance in the 1600 block of South Ingram Avenue. After investigating the scene, he took Fancher into custody on the municipal charge.

Incidents

July 30

4:20 p.m.: Emergency personnel responded to the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Porter Avenue in reference to an injury accident. They found a westbound motorcycle had lost control and left the roadway, where it struck a pole and ejected the driver. The driver suffered serious injuries, and a helicopter flew him to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. Witnesses on the scene implicated a blue semi-truck as being involved in the accident. The truck had possibly left the scene. At the time of the report, officers didn’t know whether the semi-truck was actually involved. The crash is still under investigation.

10:20 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to Housel Park for a report of a possible suicide by hanging in progress. Once on scene, they determined that no hanging had occurred but rather an overdose. The officers found several baggies of controlled substances on the victim’s person. The victim was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center. The officers are requesting charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Aug. 1

9:35 a.m.: An officer responded to South Limit Avenue and West 32nd Street in reference to a non-injury accident. He spoke with both drivers and obtained their information for the accident report. The officer found one of the drivers had a suspended license. The Pettis County Ambulance District took this driver to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a medical issue, and the officer issued a citation for driving with a suspended license.

3:40 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1800 block of South Limit Avenue for a theft report. The caller said someone took his 2017 Blue Mongoose mountain bike between 11 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. from the rear of the building. The bike has a value of $1,200. Video of the theft was not available at the time of the report.

6:40 p.m.: A victim reported someone unlawfully forced entry into his residence. He reported two glass windows and an interior door sustained $500 in damage. The complainant also reported $120 was missing from the residence. The officer had no suspect information at the time of the report.

9:25 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of West Fourth Street in reference to a civil matter. After speaking with a male subject, he called back later to report a domestic assault. The man said his girlfriend had punched him and hit him with a frying pan during the argument he had already spoken to officers about. He had injuries to his wrist, forearm and back. The officers spoke with the suspect and are requesting a charge of second-degree domestic assault against her.

Aug. 2

8:10 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of South Ohio Avenue for a burglary report. The victim said someone forced entry into his business overnight and stole $1,040 worth of items from inside the building. The officer had no suspects at the time of the report.

Aug. 1

1:55 p.m.: Maudarie D. Forbes, 27, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, was arrested in Saline County on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
