This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 5

5:05 a.m.: Keyshawn J. Flowers, 19, of the 400 block of West Broadway Boulevard, was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor possession of marijuana. An officer was dispatched to the 900 block of South Barrett Avenue. The caller said a man was ringing the doorbell of her house. She said she didn’t recognize the man, who was standing on the porch after ringing the doorbell. The officer arrived and saw a man in a white T-shirt sitting on the front stairs of the residence. He spoke with the suspect, Flowers, and learned through dispatch he had a warrant. The officer arrested him and conducted a search of his person, which reportedly revealed marijuana.

3:40 p.m.: Damon James Schmidt, 29, of the 1800 block of South Kentucky Avenue, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor identity theft, felony resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer was dispatched to the area of Honeysuckle Road and Poplar Place for a report of a suspicious couple walking in the neighborhood. The officers spoke with the couple and discovered one of the subjects, Schmidt, had provided a fake identity. Schmidt then reportedly attempted to run and resist arrest, but the officers apprehended him. They found he had a failure to appear warrant from Pulaski County and was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

7:50 p.m.: Tony D. Meyer, 46, of the 19000 block of Maltsberger Road, was arrested on a charge of second-degree domestic assault. Officers responded to Liberty Park in reference to a domestic disturbance. Witnesses said a male subject was assaulting a woman. The officers located the subjects and saw the woman had an obvious injury. They arrested the suspect, Meyer, and took him to the Pettis County Jail.

Aug. 6

3:40 p.m.: Daisy M. Dinwiddie, 39, of Smithton, was arrested on a charge of stealing. Linda D. McKinney, of Sweet Springs, received a municipal court summons for a charge of stealing. An officer was dispatched to a store in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to two shoplifters detained in the back office. The officer arrived and spoke with the suspects. He took Dinwiddie into custody and released McKinney with a court summons.

7:35 p.m.: Marshall William Luttmer, 51, of Springfield, was arrested on a felony charge of third-degree domestic assault. An officer was dispatched to the Missouri State Fairgrounds on an assault report. The reporting person said her boyfriend hit her with an extension cord. The officer noticed a red mark on her right arm that was consistent with her statement. He then placed Luttmer under arrest.

Incidents

Aug. 5

9 a.m.: An officer responded to the 1200 block of South Missouri Avenue in reference to property damage. The victim said someone spray painted his vehicle overnight. The officer saw the vehicle was covered with silver spray paint. The victim said the spray paint caused about $3,500 worth of damage. The complainant had a suspect in mind, but the officer had not contacted the person at the time of the report.

8:40 p.m.: A subject came to the police station lobby to report a disturbance with weapons that occurred about 7:30 p.m. at Liberty Park. The subject said two men brandished pistols and forced him to leave the basketball court. The officer gathered suspect information, and the investigation is ongoing.

Aug. 6

8:40 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of North Grand Avenue in reference to a vehicle theft. The owner said he left his property to go to the store about 2 p.m. and returned at 4 p.m. He said his vehicle was on his property when he left, but it was gone when he returned.

Aug. 5

1:30 a.m.: Tobias S. Chapman, 44, of California, was arrested in Moniteau County on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

3:50 a.m.: Morgan B. Vanmeter, 19, of Chilhowee, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding, not having insurance, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway and minor in possession of alcohol.
