This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 17

9:50 p.m.: Erik Mathew Elkins, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of first-degree burglary and misdemeanor fourth-degree assault. An officer was dispatched to a business in the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a person trespassing and threatening employees. The officer spoke with the subject, Elkins, and investigation revealed management had previously trespassed him from the property. While in the business, Elkins reportedly threatened to assault an employee.

10:45 p.m.: Charles Spellmeyer, 49, of the 700 block of West Second Street, received court summonses for charges of driving with a revoked license and not having proof of insurance. An officer was driving south on South Park Avenue and West Third Street when he saw a motorcycle without an illuminated light on the rear license plate. He stopped the motorcycle and discovered the driver, Spellmeyer, had a revoked license. The officer wrote him citations for driving with a revoked license and having no proof of insurance.

Aug. 18

1 a.m.: Drae Marcum, 19, of the 32000 block of Sleepy Hollow, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and minor in possession of alcohol. Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Clarendon Road for a report of a large fight. While looking for the subjects involved, one of the officers saw a vehicle that had stopped. A subject got out of the car and fled the scene. The officer searched for the subject but was unable to locate him. He found the car in the driveway of a home in the 2400 block of Golf Drive. He spoke with two occupants, who were in the vehicle. A probable cause search of the car reportedly revealed marijuana, drug paraphernalia and open alcohol containers. The two occupants, Marcum and a 17 year old, were arrested.

11:05 p.m.: Cara Marie Fauquier, 50, of the 500 block of West Third Street, was arrested on charges of private peace disturbance and open container. Officers responded to the 500 block of West Third Street to investigate a report of a disturbance. They spoke with Fauquier in the alley behind the residence. The complainant said Fauquier was threatening her. After further investigation, the officers arrested her.

Aug. 19

1:55 a.m.: James William Dingus-Fague, 30, of the 200 block of South Prospect Avenue, was arrested on a felony charge of stealing from a motor vehicle. Officers were dispatched to the area of West Third Street and South Sneed Avenue for a theft. The complainant said Dingus-Fague got into the victim’s vehicle and then walked away. The complainant kept dispatch updated on the suspect’s location until officers found him near West Fourth Street and Dal-Whi-Mo Court. The complainant positively identified Dingus-Fague, and the victim stated winning lottery tickets were missing from her vehicle.

2:30 a.m.: Ethan Z. Ellsworth, 18, of the 2700 block of Meadow Wood Drive, received a municipal court summons for charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Taylor Lane, 18, of the 2600 block of Anderson Avenue, received a municipal court summons for a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer stopped a vehicle without a rear license plate light at Clinton Road and Driftwood Lane. He found several occupants in the vehicle. As he was speaking with the driver, he smelled the odor of marijuana. The officer searched the vehicle and reportedly found marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside. The marijuana and paraphernalia reportedly belonged to the driver and a passenger.

8:40 p.m.: William Dow, 54, and Karla Hoover, 54, both of Branson, were arrested on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault. An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of South Massachusetts Avenue for a domestic disturbance. He found a man and a woman in a vehicle. He spoke with the subjects and saw both had injuries. The officer took both into custody.

Aug. 20

8:55 p.m.: Ryan K. Chapman, 33, of the 700 block of North Grand Avenue, was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault. An officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of West Ninth Street in reference to a reported domestic assault that occurred in the 700 block of North Grand Avenue. The complainant said Chapman assaulted her at the residence. The officer spoke with Chapman and placed him under arrest after investigating the incident.

Incidents

Aug. 19

4:30 a.m.: Officers went to Bothwell Regional Health Center after learning a subject was in the emergency room with a gunshot wound. They determined a shooting had taken place in the area of North Washington Avenue and East Morgan Street. The victim was treated and released. The incident is under investigation.

6:30 a.m.: An officer responded to the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue for a report of a domestic assault. He spoke with the victim, who said her boyfriend pulled her hair, threw her to the ground and bit her. The victim had visible injuries to her left shoulder from a bite. The suspect left prior to police arriving on scene. The officer is submitting a charge of second-degree domestic assault to the state prosecutor.

11:30 a.m.: An officer took a harassment report in the police station lobby. The victim, a juvenile, and her parents said an adult man repeatedly sent her sexually explicit Facebook messages. The victim said she knows the suspect, and he didn’t stop sending the messages after being told to stop. The officer had a suspect identified at the time of the report.

Aug. 20

12:20 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of West Main Street for a theft of a motor vehicle. The victim said he heard his vehicle, a red 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage, start up and drive across his backyard into an alleyway. The victim said someone stole the key from inside the car about three months ago, and he believed the suspect returned and took the vehicle.

9:20 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 2200 block of South Limit Avenue for a report of a stolen golf cart. The complainant said someone stole the golf cart sometime between Friday evening and Saturday. The cart is white with writing on the front and has a value of $2,500. The officer had no suspects at the time of the report.

10:20 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1800 block of South Park Avenue for a vehicle theft report. The caller said someone took his blue 1996 Honda Civic from the front of his residence between 9:30 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday. The caller said the keys were in the area of the vehicle, and the suspect used them to take the car. The vehicle has a value of about $800.

Arrests

Aug. 20

6:25 p.m.: Cristobal Lopez-Lopez was arrested on a charge of driving without a license. Deputies arrested him during a traffic stop in the 19000 block of Whitfield Road.

Incidents

Aug. 20

11 p.m.: Deputies responded to the 32000 block of Backbone Road in reference to a reported disturbance with possible weapons. During the investigation, they determined both parties involved were suspects of assault. The deputies placed both parties under arrest on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault.
