This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 20

10:20 a.m.: Richard D. Bartlett, 17, was arrested on charges of felony first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance in a county jail. Christian M. R. Boone, 20, was arrested on a charge of felony first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. An officer took a vehicle theft report, and a short time later, he found the vehicle at North Ohio Avenue and Ham Street. The officer saw two suspects, Bartlett and Boone, walking away from the area. He made contact with Bartlett and Boone and took them into custody at gunpoint.

2:40 p.m.: Andrea Leslie Brown, 32, of the 900 block of South Merriam Avenue, was arrested on a charge of stealing. An officer was dispatched to a store in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a theft. He took Brown into custody on a city charge of stealing.

Dec. 21

12:25 a.m.: Trustin A. Oja, 21, of the 500 block of West 20th Street, was arrested on charges of felony first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon, misdemeanor stealing from a motor vehicle and felony stealing from a motor vehicle. Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a business in the 4100 block of West Main Street in reference to a car theft. The victim said someone stole her vehicle from the parking lot between 9:45 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. The keys were in the unlocked vehicle. The officers found the vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the 4400 block of Wisconsin Avenue. They also found Oja inside with the keys and other items.

10 a.m.: James Marlon Curd, 24, of East 24th Street, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. Officers saw Curd’s vehicle with expired license plates in the area of East 24th Street and South Ingram Avenue and initiated a traffic stop. They found his license was suspended and confirmed he had a failure to appear warrant.

1:50 p.m.: Christopher S. Battles, 26, was arrested on a felony charge of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. An officer conducted a vehicle check on a truck that appeared to be freshly painted with no license plates in the parking lot of a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The officer ran the VIN number through dispatch, which revealed the truck was reported stolen from Johnson County. While the officer received the information from dispatch, Battles walked up to his location. The officer detained Battles after he reportedly admitted to driving the truck to the location.

4:30 p.m.: William H. Howe II, 27, of the 400 block of South New York Avenue, was arrested on charges of second-degree property damage and first-degree trespassing. An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of North Depp Avenue for a domestic disturbance. The officer determined that Howe, who had an active trespass warning for the residence, had damaged property there.

10:15 p.m.: Cordero Victor Amderson, 17, of the 800 block of West Fourth Street, was arrested on charges of operator’s license required and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers stopped Amderson’s vehicle at East 24th Street and South Washington Avenue. They found he was driving the vehicle without a license. After searching the vehicle, they arrested Amderson on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Incidents

Dec. 20

5 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1700 block of East 16th Street for a burglary report. The caller said someone broke off the lock on a garage door that day and stole $800 worth of items.

Dec. 21

9:40 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of West Broadway Boulevard to take a theft report. The complainant reported a large number of tools stolen from the building overnight.

Dec. 21

7:35 p.m.: Thomas C. Tallent, 53, of Sedalia, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, no valid operator’s license and driving while intoxicated.

Dec. 22

2 a.m.: Stefanie E. Hannan, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

10:50 a.m.: Nicholaus L. Crowder, 38, of Clinton, was arrested in Benton County on a charge of driving with a suspended license. Troopers also served a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant.
