This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 3

2:35 p.m.: Chelsea N. Byrd, 25, of the 2200 block of West Fifth Street, was arrested on a charge of driving with a revoked license and not wearing a motorcycle helmet. An officer was in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Osage Avenue when he saw Byrd driving a scooter in front of him. She turned into the parking lot of a gas station, and the officer exited his car to speak with her. Byrd grabbed her helmet, which was on the floorboard between her feet, and she exclaimed that she had forgotten to put it on. The officer ran her information through dispatch and found she had a revoked license. He placed her under arrest and took her to the police department where she received two summonses for the violations.

8:30 p.m.: Amanda N. Popp, 28, of Lincoln, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. Officers conducted an investigative traffic stop near the Missouri State Fairgrounds on South Limit Avenue. A computer check of the license plates on Popp’s vehicle showed she had a suspended license. The picture of the owner and Popp matched. A computer check of Popp’s information confirmed her license was suspended. The officers also served a warrant for her arrest from Pettis County.

8:55 p.m.: Kevin L. Collado, 27, of St. Joseph, was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting a felony arrest and first-degree property damage. Officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a reported robbery. Dispatched advised the victim had been hit in the face with an object and jumped out of his car. The victim then ran into a business to call 911. While making the call, Collado drove off in the victim’s car, traveling west into town while a second vehicle followed. Responding officers found the vehicle and pursued him. Collado crashed and ran on foot before the officers apprehended him. The second vehicle had not been found at the time of the report.

Incidents

Dec. 3

3:10 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Kentucky Avenue for a reported disturbance in which a man reportedly assaulted a woman known to him. Charges have been submitted against him.

12 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a restaurant in the 1100 block of South Limit Avenue. A suspect had entered the restaurant and stole a soft drink. When staff confronted the suspect, he threw the soft drink and struck someone in the head, causing pain to the victim.

Dec. 4

3:30 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a fire near East Third Street and South Marvin Avenue. Sedalia Fire Department personnel found a 2001 Infiniti I30 on the rear of a property in the 600 block of East Third Street. The car was fully engulfed in flames and was completely destroyed. The officer identified the owner of the vehicle, who said the car had apparently been stolen earlier in the evening from a parking lot in the 200 block of South Massachusetts Avenue. There were no suspects at the time of the report.

Dec. 3

3:45 p.m.: Deputies took a report in reference to a theft of a motor vehicle from the 5500 block of South Limit Avenue. Investigation into the theft continues.

Arrests

Dec. 1

Billy G. Morrison, 53, of St. Peters, was arrested in Moniteau County on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to display valid plates.

Dec. 2

7:55 p.m.: Devon E. Robinson, 26, of Newburg, was arrested in Benton County on charges of driving while intoxicated and speeding.

Dec. 3

3:50 a.m.: Kathleen L. Heskett, 37, of Lincoln, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

11:05 a.m.: Macheal R. Glass, 45, of Branson, was arrested in Benton County on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to display a front license plate.
