This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Nov. 28

3:35 p.m.: Sara Wagenknecht, 22, of the 700 block of East 14th Street, was arrested on a charge of stealing. An officer was dispatched to a business in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue for a report of a theft. A loss prevention employee said the store had caught an employee, Wagenknecht, returning items and keeping the money. The complainant said this happened on two different days and Wagenknecht took a total of $487 in cash.

Dec. 5

4:25 p.m.: Trey Goodson, 18, of the 2000 block of Ridgeview Drive; Annabell Serious, 23, of Smithton; Reed L. Nelson, 17, of the 1700 block of East Timber Ridge Drive; and Kaitlyn Puentes, 18, of the 1200 block of South Harrison Avenue, received municipal court summonses for a charge of possession of marijuana. Officers responded to a vehicle collision near West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue. During the accident investigation, they detected a strong odor of marijuana from one of the vehicles. Four occupants received municipal court summonses for a charge of possession of marijuana.

Dec. 7

1:30 p.m.: Carlos E. Staten, 30, of Kansas City, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of fraudulent use of a credit device. A complainant reported someone had taken her debit card from her home in the 1600 block of West 11th Street. She later reported multiple fraudulent charges on the card. Officers obtained video from a business in Warrensburg in which Staten can be seen using the debit card. Staten was questioned at the Pettis County Jail, and he said the person who gave him the card was doing him a favor. He was booked on a new charge of fraudulent use of a credit device and stealing.

Dec. 8

9:10 p.m.: Ahmad Jamal Dupree, 25, of the 500 block of East 10th Street, was arrested on a charge of driving with a revoked license. An officer stopped Dupree’s vehicle in the area of East 10th Street and South Ingram Avenue for speeding and not using a turn signal. A computer check showed Dupree had a revoked Missouri driver’s license.

10:40 p.m.: Christopher Michael Burgess, 26, of the 1700 block of South Osage Avenue, was arrested on a charge of second-degree domestic assault. Officers were dispatched to Burgess’ residence for a domestic assault. A witness said Burgess was “choking out” someone. The officers found Burgess in the 1600 block of South Kentucky Avenue. He said there had only been a verbal argument between him and the other subject. While speaking with the other subject, the officers noticed redness and scratch marks on the person’s neck. They placed Burgess under arrest.

Dec. 9

12:15 a.m.: Broden Erik Riley, 24, of the 600 block of East Ninth Street, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. An officer stopped a vehicle in the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Thompson Avenue after the driver committed several traffic violations. Investigation during the stop revealed the driver was intoxicated.

1:35 a.m.: Jeffery Allen Buchanan, 31, of the 200 block of South Missouri Avenue, was arrested on charges of resisting a felony arrest and driving with a suspended license. Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Wilkerson Street and South Missouri Avenue for failing to use a turn signal and driving in the oncoming traffic lane. The driver, Buchanan, stepped out of the vehicle and ran into a residence. The officers entered the residence and arrested Buchanan, who had two Pettis County felony failure to appear warrants.

3:05 a.m.: Madelyne V. Ash, 20, of the 2300 block of South Kentucky Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Ash’s vehicle near West Broadway Boulevard and South State Fair Boulevard, and he found her license was suspended.

9 a.m.: William L. Taylor, 26, of the 1800 block of South Barrett Avenue, was arrested on charges of felony third-degree domestic assault and resisting a felony arrest. A witness contacted an officer about an assault that had just occurred south of East Broadway Boulevard and South Engineer Avenue. The officer found Taylor and took him into custody after a brief foot pursuit. He was reportedly uncooperative at the time of the officer’s investigation.

1:30 p.m.: Victor E. Gonzalez Castro, 25, of the 900 block of South Beacon Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving with a revoked license. An officer initiated a traffic stop on Gonzalez Castro’s vehicle in the 900 block of South Beacon Avenue for having a brake light out. Dispatch informed the officer that his license was revoked.

2 p.m.: Auston H. Carlock, 28, of the 1500 block of South Mildred Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. Dispatch advised that Carlock had a suspended license after an officer stopped his vehicle near West Third Street and South Ohio Avenue.

3:15 p.m.: Steven Sei, 22, of the 1300 block of South Kentucky Avenue, was arrested on a charge of resisting a misdemeanor arrest. An officer was conducting a subject check at West 16th Street and South Vermont Avenue with two pedestrians. Before the officer could speak with them, they both fled. He was able to arrest one subject, Sei, and learned he had a Saline County failure to appear warrant.

7 p.m.: Misty Rhea Logan, 41, of the 300 block of East Clay Street, was arrested on charges of fourth-degree domestic assault and resisting a misdemeanor arrest. Officers responded to the 300 block of East Clay Street in reference to a disturbance. They reportedly discovered Logan had punched someone in the face after an argument. She then resisted arrest as the officers attempted to detain her. The other subject had injuries to her face but refused medical treatment.

Dec. 10

9:30 p.m.: Lindsay S. Hewlett, 33, of Independence, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia. Brandon L. Waters, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle on West Broadway Boulevard near Thompson Boulevard. Investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated by drugs and was in possession of methamphetamine-related paraphernalia. The passenger was reportedly also in possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia.

Dec. 9

3 p.m.: An officer took a report in the police department lobby of a sex crime. The victim said she was sexually assaulted in the 500 block of South Ohio Avenue about 11:30 p.m. the night before. She said she received medical attention at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

12:10 p.m.: Ben M. Villa, 26, of Colts Neck, New Jersey, was arrested in Saline County on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

12:10 p.m.: Rosio E. Medina, 26, of East Windsor, New Jersey, was arrested in Saline County on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Dec. 9

2:10 p.m.: Delfino Solano Olea, 24, of Marshall, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.

Dec. 10

2 a.m.: Dustin L. Rayl, 34, of Green Ridge, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
