This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Incidents

Feb. 14

2:35 p.m.: Officers were called to the 200 block of South Ohio Avenue for a report of failure to return leased property. The suspect rented a viola from a business in August and was making monthly installment payments. Her last payment came in November. When the suspect didn’t make the January payment, the business sent her a certified letter, which the suspect refused to sign for. Attempts to contact the suspect by phone and mail had not been successful. The business wished to press charges if the viola was not returned.

5:55 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of South Brown Avenue for a reported disturbance. After handling this call, the officers were approached with another call. A woman said a suspect assaulted her the previous night at the same residence. She said he hit and choked her. The victim stated she left the area and went to a hospital in Kansas City. The officers spoke with the suspect, who indicated the woman had actually assaulted him. The officers are requesting charges of third-degree domestic assault against the suspect.

9:35 p.m.: An officer took a report in the police station lobby of an assault that occurred that day in the 1700 block of Fairview Court. The victim said she went to the suspect’s house to ask for help with a flat tire. An argument started between them, and she was reportedly assaulted. She went to the hospital for treatment and came to the police station to provide a written statement. At the time of the report, the officer had not made contact with the suspect.

10:55 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the emergency room of Bothwell Regional Health Center for an assault report. The reporting person said her boyfriend assaulted her. She also said her boyfriend’s sister took some of her belongings without her permission. The reporting person said the incident happened about 8:30 p.m. that day in the 300 block of West Seventh Street.

Arrests

Feb. 14

6:25 p.m.: Aaron M. Pugh, 36, of Centralia, was arrested in Saline County on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding, and careless and imprudent driving.

11:25 p.m.: Tyler H. Kight, 25, of Bax, Georgia, was arrested in Saline County on a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance.

Feb. 15

12:35 a.m.: William J. Beasley, 27, of Windsor, was arrested in Henry County on charges of felony leaving the scene of a crash, careless and imprudent driving, and failure to register a vehicle. Troopers also served a misdemeanor warrant from Moniteau County.

8:55 a.m.: Scott P. Johnson, 38, of Lincoln, was arrested in Benton County on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to display valid registration.

10:45 a.m.: Ryan T. Trevathan, 26, of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, was arrested in Saline County on charges of felony possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

1:30 p.m.: Samantha J. Smith, 28, of Windsor, was arrested in Benton County on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to display valid registration.
