This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 9

1 p.m.: Kimberly M. Gibbs, 29, of the 400 block of North Quincy Avenue, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor stealing. A complainant reported a theft of his cellphone in the area of West Third Street and South State Fair Boulevard. The officer located the suspect, Gibbs, in the 2700 block of West Broadway Boulevard and took her into custody. After arriving at the Pettis County Jail, Gibbs was reportedly found in possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.

July 10

8:10 p.m.: Teresa Rubio, 35, of the 900 block of South Ohio Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving without a license. An officer stopped Rubio’s vehicle near South Grand Avenue and West Third Street. Through investigation, he found she was operating her vehicle without a license and had an active Sedalia municipal warrant for an original charge of driving without a license.

Incidents

July 10

1:25 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 600 block of South Ohio Avenue for a report of theft of copper wiring from an air conditioning unit. The reporting party said someone damaged the unit and cut out the copper wiring sometime between early Monday evening and Tuesday morning. The estimated combined value of the damage and stolen property added to $850. The officer had no suspects at the time of the report.

5:10 p.m.: Officers responded to the 2200 block of West Fifth Street for a domestic dispute. After investigation, they determined a known male suspect had assaulted a woman. They also found the same man stole a cellphone. The assault victim had injuries to her face, but she refused medical attention. Both victims were willing to assist with prosecution. At the time of the report, the suspect had fled the scene before the officers arrived. SPD is seeking criminal charges.

July 10

7:30 p.m.: Deputies investigated a case of a suspect attempting to pass counterfeit currency in the 23000 block of Route MM. The investigation is still ongoing.

Arrests

July 10

10:20 a.m.: Rebecca E. Bates, 56, of Cole Camp, was arrested in Benton County on charges of felony driving while intoxicated and driving with a revoked license.

11:40 p.m.: Edward H. Roe, 65, of Barnett, was arrested in Morgan County on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
