This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

May 24

7:55 p.m.: Rosa E. Brown, 17, of Houstonia, was arrested on five misdemeanor counts of stealing. An officer responded to a store in the 3100 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of theft. The complainant reported an employee, Brown, had made eight fraudulent returns between April 14 and May 24. Brown reportedly credited her own credit card without making any merchandise return. The total value of the theft was $749.08.

June 1

2:05 p.m.: Nicholas H. Dunn, 28, of Chilhowee, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, driving with a revoked license and possession of a controlled substance in a county jail. Ira S. Osburn, 53, of Leeton, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers responded to the 3000 block of Clinton Avenue for a theft of keys from a business. The complainant provided a quality description of the suspects, their vehicle and a possible destination. Officers located the suspect vehicle in the 300 block of North Iron Avenue. After investigation, they arrested Dunn on a charge of driving with a revoked license. One of the officers took Dunn to the Pettis County Jail where a search of his person reportedly revealed a baggie of methamphetamine in his boot. Osburn, a passenger, was arrested on a Johnson County warrant and a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

June 2

12:10 a.m.: Shadow D. Bain, 22, of the 900 block of Westwood Drive, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. Officers were dispatched to West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue for an injury accident. A computer check of one of the non-injured drivers showed her license was suspended.

5:40 a.m.: Veronica R. Williams, 53, of Jefferson City, was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license and license plates required. An officer found Williams’ license was suspended during a traffic stop near West Broadway Boulevard and Thompson Boulevard.

4:40 p.m.: Donovan Lee Sims, 40, of the 500 block of South Engineer Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer observed a vehicle with no license plates traveling at a high rate of speed in an alleyway behind Open Door. He stopped the vehicle a short time later in the 600 block of East Third Street. A computer check through dispatch showed the driver, Sims, had a suspended license.

Incidents

May 27

4:50 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to West Henry Street and North Stewart Avenue for a report of leaving the scene of an accident. An officer spoke with a witness, who said the driver was drunk and walked south away from the accident scene. Another officer searched the area but didn’t locate the suspect. The officers called a tow truck to the scene. During inventory of the vehicle, they found identification inside.

June 1

3:45 p.m.: Two subjects contacted an officer to report an assault and robbery in which someone stole money from a victim after hitting him in the face with a handgun. The officer spoke with the victim and could tell he had injuries consistent with a blow to the face. He called the Pettis County Ambulance District, who responded and gave first aid. The victim didn’t wish for transport, as he was trying to find his dog in the area.

June 2

2:25 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of South Lamine Avenue in reference to a burglary report. The victim said she left her residence about 5:30 p.m. the day before and returned home about 2:15 that morning. When she arrived, her 45-inch TV, debit card and some cash were missing. The victim said her back door was left unlocked. There were no signs of forced entry.

11:30 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 300 block of South Hancock Avenue in reference to a theft of parts from a vehicle. The victim reported parts and batteries had been stolen from multiple cars within the past week.

9 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of South Missouri Avenue for a harassment complaint. The victim made the harassment complaint along with a report of assault and property damage. She said a known male suspect came to her residence and punched the door of her vehicle, causing damage. He also verbally threatened her. Two known female suspects assaulted her by slapping and hitting her on the head. The officer had identified the suspects at the time of the report, but he had not contacted them. No dollar amount for the vehicle damage was available at the time of initial contact with the complainant.

11:35 p.m.: An officer responded to the emergency room at Bothwell Regional Health Center for a report of a sexual assault. The victim reported a male suspect raped her while she was walking on the Katy Trail near South Limit Avenue in the late-night hours of June 1.

Arrests

June 1

9:30 p.m.: Anthony L. Salmons, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and careless and imprudent driving. Deputies were involved in a short vehicle pursuit starting in the area of U.S. Route 50 and Emmet Avenue. Salmons turned onto U.S. 50 from Emmet Avenue going sideways and then took off at a high rate of speed. The deputies activated their emergency lights and siren. Salmons finally came to a stop in the 2200 block of Broadway Boulevard.

June 2

12:40 a.m.: Sergei Gladush was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault. Deputies responded to the 6600 block of Monsees Drive in reference to a reported disturbance. During the investigation, they took Gladush into custody.

1:35 a.m.: Kimberly G. Reese, 44, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated and not having insurance.
