This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 16

1:15 a.m.: Radu Boris Ciobanu, 26, of Smithton, was arrested on a charge of driving with a revoked license. An officer stopped Ciobanu’s vehicle near James Road and Heck Avenue for rolling through two stop signs and accelerating excessively. A computer check of his information showed his license was revoked.

7:15 a.m.: Mark R. Nelson, 36, of Moberly, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance and misdemeanor identity theft. Raymond L. Shaumeyer, 34, of the 900 block of South Osage Avenue, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and distribution of a controlled substance. Officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of East Broadway Boulevard for suspected drug activity. The caller said a truck was in the lot with two male subjects, who appeared to be exchanging drugs for money with another man. After making contact with the three subjects, the officers arrested Nelson on multiple drug charges and an active Benton County warrant. They also arrested the owner of the truck, Shaumeyer, on possession and distribution charges.

June 17

11:05 p.m.: Taylor M. Steele, 21, of the 30000 block of Ball Road, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Jeremiah Dean Luera, 21, of the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue, received a municipal court summons for a charge of possession of marijuana. Officers were dispatched to a non-injury accident near West Third Street and South Quincy Avenue. A vehicle had crashed into a parked vehicle. Upon investigating the accident, the officers determined the driver, Steele, was intoxicated. They also found marijuana in the vehicle, which reportedly belonged to Luera, a passenger.

Incidents

June 15

6 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a business in the 100 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to an assault. The victim said he knew the suspect, who punched him three times. The assault caused a bloody lip, a knot on the head and a scrape on the ear to the victim. The suspect left the scene prior to law enforcement arrival.

June 16

8:30 a.m.: A subject called the police department and said all the windows of her vehicle but one had been broken out. The victim had possible suspect information and was willing to assist with prosecution. The victim didn’t know the value of the damage. The officer reported the damage would cost more than $1,000, with five windows broken and an average cost of $200 per window.

11 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 2600 block of Wildrose Lane in reference to a theft of a vehicle. The victim reported someone stole his black 2001 Chevrolet Silverado HD2500 sometime between June 12 and that day.

12:15 p.m.; A complainant said he and his wife were driving into Sedalia on Route B from Green Ridge. They were behind a group of six motorcyclists when the motorcycles slowed suddenly for what the complainant believed to be debris on the roadway. One of the riders turned around to remove or retrieve the item. Several of the motorcyclists turned around and pointed at the complainant. He said six of the bikers blocked his vehicle at U.S. Route 65 and West 32nd Street when they got into Sedalia and again at U.S. 65 and West 16th Street. One of the bikers got off of his motorcycle and punched the mirror and glass of the complainant’s vehicle. There was some evident damage to his car. The officer had limited suspect information at the time of the report.

Incidents

June 16

6:15 a.m.: Deputies took a report of a vehicle stolen from the 24000 block of Perriguey Road. The vehicle was described as a dark gray 2003 Chevrolet Silverado.

June 17

9:25 p.m.: Deputies took a report of a vehicle that was stolen in the 3900 block of Suburban Lane. Investigation continues.

Arrests

June 15

8:50 p.m.: Jarred M. Kalenda, 28, of Columbia, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of boating while intoxicated, allowing a passenger to ride on the gunwale and not having personal flotation devices available.

9:45 p.m.: Joseph J. Fuelling, 40, of Pleasant Valley, was arrested in Johnson County on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

June 16

12:05 a.m.: Robert A. Gordon, 62, of Springfield, Illinois, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of driving while intoxicated and displaying lights other than prescribed on a watercraft.

2:20 p.m.: Shaliah T. Timmons, 26, of Mexico, was arrested in Saline County on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding and lane violation.

8 p.m.: Katherine M. Uhl, 30, of Sioux City, Iowa, was arrested in Henry County on charges of driving with a revoked license, failure to drive within the right lane and failure to display valid license plates. Troopers also served three misdemeanor warrants from the Raymore Police Department.

8 p.m.: Kari J. Stevens, 30, of Kansas City, was arrested in Henry County on charges of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and not wearing a seat belt. Troopers also served nine Jackson County misdemeanor warrants.

11:40 p.m.: Tom T. Lahti, 69, of Sunrise Beach, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving involving an accident.

June 17

6 a.m.: Rafael S. Davis, 19, of Brighton, Colorado, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of driving while intoxicated, minor visibly intoxicated and failure to drive on the right side of the road involving a crash.
