This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Nov. 28

1:45 p.m.: Justin H. Schoen, 32, of Otterville, was arrested on charges of resisting a felony arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and failing to yield to a stop sign. Larissa Nichole Boone, 27, of the 300 block of McAnally Court, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer stopped Schoen’s vehicle after he ran a stop sign at Scott Joplin Court and West Saline Street. Schoen got out of the vehicle and fled from the officer. He was found and arrested on a charge of resisting arrest and for felony warrants. A passenger, Boone, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nov. 29

8:25 a.m.: Joseph Henry Hendrix, 39, of the 4200 block of West Main Street, received a municipal court summons for a charge of possession of marijuana. An officer stopped Hendrix’s vehicle in a parking lot on West Main Street for improper registration. The officer approached Hendrix and could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the driver and the vehicle. He asked Hendrix to step out, and he conducted a search of the vehicle, which revealed several pieces of marijuana.

Nov. 27

9 p.m.: An officer took a report at the police department of stealing. The victim said someone gained entry to his bank account and emptied it in August. The victim made a report with the FBI in Kansas City before contacting Sedalia Police. The total amount stolen is about $3,800.

Nov. 28

7:20 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1400 block of South Vermont Avenue for a theft complaint. The victim said she received a phone call earlier in the day and let it go to voicemail. The person left a message claiming to be an IRS agent, saying the victim owed several thousand dollars in back taxes. The message threatened if she didn’t make a $1,000 payment, she would be immediately arrested. The victim purchased several gift cards, called back the number and read the information to the callers. At the time of the report, the loss to an apparent telephone scam is $1,000.

Arrests

Nov. 28

4:40 p.m.: Frederick B. Decker, 37, of Winfield, Kansas, was arrested in Henry County on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

4:50 p.m.: Phillis E. Jackson, 40, of Kansas City, was arrested in Henry County on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

7:50 p.m.: Sheena Dowland, 33, of Independence, was arrested in Johnson County on a charge of resisting arrest by fleeing. Troopers also served a misdemeanor warrant from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

7:50 p.m.: Jonathan P. Dowland, 39, of Independence, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of resisting arrest by fleeing, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and not having a valid license. Troopers also served a misdemeanor warrant from the Gower Police Department.

Nov. 29

10:10 a.m.: Isaiah R. Cardwell, 21, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, displaying the plates of another vehicle and not having car insurance. Troopers also served a misdemeanor warrant from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
