This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Nov. 15

4:55 p.m.: Thomas H. Roberts, 70, of the 25000 block of Liberty School Road, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of South Ingram Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle collision on private property. A witness to the incident believed Roberts to be intoxicated after he struck a parked vehicle. Officers conducted field sobriety tests on Roberts and placed him under arrest for driving while intoxicated. Roberts agreed to give a blood sample and was taken directly to the hospital. The blood sample has been placed into evidence and will be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol lab for analysis.

Nov. 20

11:15 a.m.: Rodney D. Ballew, 37, of the 1300 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested on a charge of driving with a revoked license. An officer saw a vehicle traveling west on West 16th Street. After seeing the patrol vehicle, the driver turned north on South Osage Avenue. The vehicle stopped at West 12th Street, and the driver switched seats with the passenger. The vehicle then traveled north again, and the officer initiated a traffic stop. The officer obtained the driver’s and the suspect’s information and read it to dispatch, which confirmed the suspect, Ballew, had a revoked license. He reportedly admitted to switching seats with the passenger before the traffic stop.

5:20 p.m.: Daniel Slater Ford, 38, of the 4200 block of West Main Street, was arrested on a charge of stealing. An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of stealing. The officer spoke with Ford, who reportedly admitted to stealing. He also has a Sedalia municipal failure to appear warrant and a Pettis County warrant.

10:45 p.m.: Raul Bartolome Jaquez-Garcia, 32, of the 1800 block of East Broadway Boulevard, was arrested on two counts of first-degree child molestation, two counts of second-degree child molestation and furnishing pornography to minors. An officer went to the 1200 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a sexual assault investigation. A detective investigating the sexual assault case requested Jaquez-Garcia be arrested if the officer were to find him. The officer found the suspect and placed him under arrest.

Nov. 21

12:50 p.m.: Kimberly Sue Busing, 46, of the 500 block of South Park Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving with a revoked license. An officer conducted a traffic stop near South Kentucky Avenue and West Fourth Street. Dispatch confirmed Busing’s driving privileges were revoked.

1:30 p.m.: Justin Lee Denny, 37, of the 1000 block of West Fourth Street, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a concealable weapon and receiving stolen property of $150 or more. An officer saw a vehicle with no front license plate pull to the side of the road without signaling. The vehicle then pulled back onto the roadway, and the officer conducted a traffic stop at East 13th Street and South Ohio Avenue. The officer performed a terry frisk of the driver, Denny, because of his furtive movements. He shared Denny’s information with dispatch, which advised he was disqualified from possessing a firearm. The officer saw a handgun in plain view and performed a search of the vehicle, which revealed methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The handgun was found to be stolen.

Incidents

Nov. 20

4:05 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1400 block of West 11th Street for a report of a hit-and-run accident. The complainant said her friend’s vehicle was struck overnight, causing minor damage. The estimated cost of the damage was about $1,000. There were no suspects at the time of the report.

Nov. 21

7 p.m.: An officer took a report in the police department lobby of a sexual assault. The victim reported a sexual assault in the 1500 block of South Missouri Avenue. The Pettis County Ambulance District took the victim to Bothwell Regional Health Center. After a brief investigation, a suspect was identified.
