Threat investigation leads to Smith-Cotton High School student arrest

Posted

Another Smith-Cotton High School student has been arrested after reportedly making threats against the school.

Jacob B. Lore, 17, was arrested on a charge of third-degree making a terrorist threat. A report from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office showed Lore told several students he was going to burn down the school.

The arrest occurred more than a month after another 17-year-old student was arrested after reportedly threatening a school shooting. Ira L. Todd was taken into custody Feb. 15 on a charge of second-degree making a terrorist threat. He has since been arraigned in the trial division of the Pettis County Circuit Court.

On Wednesday, the school administration notified Sgt. John Cline, the school resource officer, of a possible threat of violence. Cline and Sedalia School District 200 launched a “full and immediate” investigation, according to the report.

Investigators identified Lore as a suspect but believed he was not an immediate threat to the school. Cline took Lore to the Pettis County Jail after locating and arresting him Thursday morning. A statement from the school district specified Lore was arrested at his home.

The Sheriff’s Office has submitted a charge of third-degree making a terrorist threat to the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office.
