A record number of Missouri Valley College students shared their academic, creative and professional work at the spring 2023 Student Research Symposium hosted in MVC's Malcolm Center. The all-day event was free and open to the public.

The Missouri FFA Association awarded Pettis County FFA Chapter a Gold Emblem, a Top Chapter Award, at the 95th Missouri FFA Convention hosted April 20-21 in Columbia. Pettis County placed 32nd out of 355 chapters. Only 10% of state chapters receive a top chapter designation each year.

At the last State Fair Community College Board of Trustees meeting, the board unanimously passed a resolution recognizing April as National Community College Month at SFCC. Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe announced that 55 youth, selected from Missouri 4-H and FFA State Fair exhibitors, will be awarded scholarships by the Missouri State Fair and the Youth in Agriculture committee. These students are seeking higher education at a university/college of their choice and will be recognized on April 21 during the annual State FFA Convention in Columbia.

Propst was recognized for a video he produced featuring Sedalia business No. 5 Bistro & Bar. He competed against students from two- and four-year institutions throughout Missouri.
