HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Smith-Cotton 15, Center 5

The Tigers scored nine runs in the third inning of a 15-5 victory Monday hosting the Center Yellowjackets.

Colton Zerilli belted his second home run of the season. He and Brandon Kindle drove in three runs each.

Aaron Hughes struck out five and walked four during a four-inning start. Trint Grotzinger allowed inherited runners to score but ultimately finished the game pitching during a three-run fifth.

Smith-Cotton (8-6) travels Thursday to Columbia for a 5 p.m. first pitch with Battle.

Skyline 8, Cole Camp 0

The Lady Bluebirds dropped a District 14 matchup with Skyline, 8-0, Monday in Urbana.

Cole Camp (7-8) hosts La Monte 5 p.m. Thursday.

Adrian 15, Windsor 3

Windsor allowed 10 runs in the first inning of a 15-3 loss Monday at Adrian.

Courtney Johnson and Lexi Holt recorded two hits for the Lady Greyhounds. Windsor (8-11) hosts Northwest 5 p.m. Thursday.

Tipton 13, Northwest 9

Northwest issued 16 bases on balls Monday during a 13-9 home loss to Tipton.

Kyla Cornine and Ashley Rex walked three times apiece, while the latter struck out five in a complete-game effort pitching.

Tipton (7-3) welcomes Smithton to town 5 p.m. Friday.

Smith-Cotton boys, Glasgow girls win at S-C Invitational

Cole Camp freshman Madysen Brown captured the 100-meter hurdles in 17.88 seconds.

Smith-Cotton senior Viktor Tsymbal won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.45, Green Ridge sophomore Ivan Sosa was third in 16.77 and Tipton junior Austin Pace finished fifth in 18.03.

Lady Tigers senior Nia Hawkins won the 100 in 12.97. She claimed the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, 9 inches and the long jump with a mark of 16-5.

In the girls 1600, Green Ridge senior Holly Thomas (5:48.43) was runner-up to Marshall’s Hannah Pomerenke (5:46.61).

Tipton senior Isaac Ashton won the boys 1600 in 4:52.07 and the 800 in 2:08.33. Cole Camp sophomore willy Murphy was runner-up in the 800 in 2:12.93.

Cole Camp senior Lainy Williams won the 400 in 1:01.10, while Tipton junior Tyanna Busch was third in 1:03.32.

Windsor junior Jonah Roberts claimed the 200 with a time of 23.40 and Tipton senior Kodie Dick finished runner-up in 23.94. Dick won the 400 in 51.14.

Sacred Heart junior Cody Damlo posted a 46.23 in the 300 hurdles, currently best in the Kaysinger Conference. Smith-Cotton senior RaeQuan Williams finished one place ahead in 45.57.

Green Ridge junior Riley Hagedorn finished fifth in the 300 hurdles in 55.48, one place ahead of Sacred Heart junior Maia Smith in 55.71. Hagedorn improved her season-best in high jump with a third-place mark of 4-10. Cole Camp’s Williams won the event at 5 feet.

Smith-Cotton sophomore Matt Thompson cleared 5-10 in high jump to finish second.

In the 3200, Smithton freshman Rustin Muhr (11:24.68) was runner-up to Glawgow’s Zy-shonne Cowans (11:22.86).

Tipton junior Tucker Petree won the discus event with a throw of 119-3.

Green Ridge sophomore Emily Lesmeister and Windsor junior Emma Brummit tied for fourth in the shot put with marks of 29-9.

Tipton senior Derrick Hays improved his season-best javelin mark with a fourth-place, 120-1.

HIGH SCHOOL GOLF

Gillund, Kroenke leaders at Sacred Heart Invitational

Clinton’s Austin Gillund shot an 18-hole total of 71 to claim medalist honors Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Invitational at Sedalia Country Club.

Boonville, led by Brayden Page’s 79 and Jake Horst’s 87, won the team title with a score of 354. Clinton (361) and Lincoln (362) rounded out the top three.

Lincoln’s Bo Kroenke finished individual runner-up with a 72. Stover’s Chad Nolting (86) Sacred Heart’s Jeff Hollabaugh (87), Tipton’s Braden Petree (89) each finished top-15 individually.

Sacred Heart’s Aaron Kennon fired a 93, while Stover’s Lucas Randall and Lincoln’s Joe Bittner finished with 94s. Harrison Needy paced Green Ridge with a 95, while Clayton Hesse was the low man for Cole Camp with a 96.

HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS

Jefferson City 7, Smith-Cotton 2

Colten Mitchell defeated his No. 5 singles opponent 8-6 and helped Zach Barnes win their doubles match Tuesday during a 7-2 team loss hosting Jefferson City.

Barnes and Mitchell captured their doubles match 8-6.

The Tigers are 7-2 in regular-season play entering the Smith-Cotton Invitational 9 a.m. Friday.
