This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 27

8:24 p.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after the driver was recognized as someone with a warrant out of Pettis County. Contact was made with the driver who was agitated. The driver claimed there was no warrant and indicated they were going to fight. The driver was left in their vehicle while the warrant was confirmed. The driver then turned their car on and drove away. A short vehicle pursuit took place before the driver was stopped and ran on foot before being taken into custody. Michael D. Thomlinson, 27, of the 400 block of East Saline Street was arrested for the warrant and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

July 1

11:09 p.m.: Sedalia police investigated a call about a broken window in the 2300 block of East Broadway Boulevard. David Marcias, 32, of Bunker Road, was arrested for second-degree property damage.

July 2

12:47 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the Pettis County Courthouse for a reported fire. Witnesses observed a male standing next to the Veteran’s Memorial flame on the property. It was determined the suspect took a pleated flag that was displayed on the side of the courthouse and threw it on top of the flame causing it to burn. The suspect was located a distance away. Whitt Beard, 61, of Memphis Tennessee, was arrested for second-degree property damage.

2:41 a.m.: Police responded to a 911 call about a domestic disturbance. One individual was trying to take the phone of another individual and attacked them for it. The victim was able to escape and make it to a friend’s house to call the police. Jason B. Warren, 41, of the 400 block of North Main Street was arrested for felony third-degree domestic assault.

9:10 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North Missouri Avenue for a disturbance. Upon arrival an officer witnessed a male being pursued by a female with a length of pipe. Both were detained after other units arrived. Jada M. Ward, 18, of the 700 block of McVey Road was arrested for second-degree domestic assault.

11:06 p.m.: An officer observed a vehicle traveling westbound on East Broadway Boulevard displaying a registration plate of another vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and an investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of methamphetamine. Marshall L. Tittsworth, 52, of Warsaw, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Incidents

July 2

5:22 a.m.: An officer responded to the 400 block of West 23rd Street for the report of a burglary. The victim stated that someone had entered their attached garage and stole $1,080 of her property. There were no suspects at the time of the police report.

July 2

7:36 a.m.: Jared G. Statler, 48, of La Monte was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and excessive speed.

3:13 p.m.: Nicholas R. Douglas-Vansell, 24, of Sedalia was arrested in Pettis County for a felony Pettis County warrant and possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana.
