The tournament kicks off a series of special activities with the theme “My Central, My Legacy” for the academic year 2019-20 that are part of the celebration of the college’s 100-year anniversary. Other activities include a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Legacy Suite in Lovinger Education Building Aug. 15 and the College of Education’s centennial celebration weekend Oct. 25-26.
The UCM College of Education dates back to the naming of the university as Central Missouri State Teachers College in 1919. This was the result of legislation which renamed all of the state’s Normal Schools, which were created to prepare teachers to serve the state of Missouri.
