The Sedalia Police Department has recently been notified there is an individual identifying themselves as “Agent Johnson with the Sedalia Police Department” and calling the public. The individual is demanding money from call recipients. SPD does not have “agents,” only “officers.”

According to the department, no one in the SPD will ever solicit money over the phone. If an individual ever has any suspicions that a call may potentially be a scam they are encouraged to call the SPD non-emergency number to verify if the individual is law enforcement at 660-826-8100.

Anyone calling you out of the blue and asking for any kind of payment over the phone, 100% scammers. Just hang up and block the number. I have just Googled about similar scams and found some recent reports filed at https://www.whycall.me/747-282-2570.html since few months ago. The FTC should do something to track these scammers down.
