This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 9

5:30 a.m.: Sasha M. Skaggs, 34, of Smithton, received a municipal court summons for a charge of stealing. Officers responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. Employees reportedly caught Skaggs stealing about $68.22 worth of merchandise. They had escorted her to the back of the store and recovered the items. The officers issued her a municipal court summons when they arrived.

July 11

7:10 p.m.: Calvin J. Woodard, 30, of the 1400 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault. Officers responded to Woodard’s residence for a report of a domestic disturbance. They spoke with the complainant, who said Woodard had assaulted him. Woodard had left before the officers arrived but returned while they were talking with the complainant, who had minor injuries on his face and back. The complainant refused medical treatment. The officers took Woodard, who had no injuries, into custody.

7:55 p.m.: Quinton Noel Gano, 37, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Gano’s vehicle in the area of South Washington Avenue and East Second Street after recognizing the driver as a subject with a suspended license. A computer check through dispatch confirmed his suspended status.

July 12

10:30 a.m.: Wylliam Ray Deveney, 28, of the 3100 block of Wing Avenue, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Deveney’s vehicle for disobeying a stop sign, and a search through dispatch showed he had a suspended license. The officer then told Deveney he was going to arrest him and ordered him out of the vehicle. As Deveney stepped out, a syringe and a bag of methamphetamine reportedly fell from his lap to the ground. The officer placed him under arrest and took him to the Pettis County Jail.

Incidents

July 4

12:45 a.m.: A subject came to the police station to report property damage. He said his vehicle had been hit with rocks and paintballs while he was driving in the 1600 block of South Limit Avenue. An investigation is ongoing.

July 11

6 p.m.: SPD received a report regarding a possible child sex crime that occurred in Sedalia, potentially in 2014. The incident is under investigation.

6:20 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 500 block of West Main Street in reference to a theft of a motor vehicle. The business’s management reported a known suspect had taken a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire valued at $2,500. The officers had not located the suspect or the vehicle at the time of the report. They are submitting charges to the state prosecutor.
