This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 16

9:40 p.m.: Roger A. Motley, 47, and Marsha J. Panuco, 44, both of the 600 block of East 11th Street, received a municipal court summons for a charge of stealing. An officer was dispatched to a store in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft report. An employee said a couple came into the store, switched tags on items and attempted to leave the store after paying for cheaper items. Employees stopped the couple, who left after being confronted. The officer made contact with the suspects later in the evening. He issued them a court summons and a trespass warning.

Aug. 17

4:10 p.m.: Nathan Shane Snyder, 34, of the 1900 block of South Quincy Avenue, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of tampering with physical evidence and possession of marijuana. An officer stopped a vehicle because he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the car. He approached the driver, Snyder, and asked him to step out of the vehicle. He searched Snyder and the vehicle for marijuana. During the search, the officer reportedly located a marijuana cigarette roach that had been dropped into a can of soda in attempt to destroy it. The officer placed Snyder under arrest.

8:35 p.m.: Tammy Ann Ballew, 38, of the 1300 block of East Boonville Street, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer stopped Ballew’s vehicle in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Quincy Avenue for expired license plates. A computer check through dispatch showed Ballew had an active warrant from the Division of Youth Services. Further investigation reportedly revealed she was in possession of methamphetamine and related paraphernalia.

Aug. 18

8:50 a.m.: Sergio Gonzalez-Morales, 36, of La Monte, was arrested on charges of driving without a license and speeding. An officer stopped Gonzalez-Morales’ vehicle in the 3700 block of West 16th Street for speeding. The officer learned he didn’t have a driver’s license or any valid identification. The officer arrested Gonzalez-Morales, had his vehicle towed and took him to the police station, where he was fingerprinted and released with a citation.

9:45 a.m.: Devonta M. Sterling, 28, of Marshall, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer saw Sterling make an improper turn from West 10th Street to South Limit Avenue and stopped his vehicle. Dispatch notified the officer that Sterling had a suspended Arkansas license.

10:20 a.m.: Sonjteria K. Goude, 22, of the 200 block of Scott Joplin Court, received a municipal court summons for a charge of possession of marijuana. An officer stopped a vehicle with no front license plates in the 1300 block of West Main Street. He detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent investigation reportedly revealed the front passenger, Goude, was in possession of marijuana.

1:30 p.m.: Deandre K. Williams, 27, of the 300 block of West 10th Street, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of identity theft. An officer stopped a speeding vehicle near South New York Avenue and East 16th Street. After a warrant check, the officer arrested one occupant, Williams, on a felony probation and parole warrant with an additional charge of misdemeanor identity theft.

Incidents

Aug. 12

4:10 a.m.: An officer took a report in the police station of a disturbance that occurred that day. The victim said she got into a physical altercation with a suspect. While outside the residence where the altercation took place, the suspect ran the victim over with her vehicle before leaving the scene. The incident is under investigation.

Aug. 15

7 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1000 block of East 13th Street for a report of a stolen vehicle. He contacted the owner, who said her 2003 Chevrolet Ventura van had been stolen from the street in front of her residence. A key was in the vehicle. The officer had no suspects at the time of the report.

Aug. 17

12:55 p.m.: An officer responded to the 300 block of South Engineer Avenue for a report of trespassing. He spoke with the complainant, who said his grandson came to his house and tried to let his dogs loose. He said his grandson had already been warned not to come to the house, and he only came over to cause problems. The officer is submitting a trespassing charge to the city prosecutor.

Aug. 19

2 p.m.: Deputies took a report of introduction of contraband to a jail facility. Charges were pending at the time of the report.

Aug. 17

12:05 p.m.: Joseph J. Fuelling, 40, of Pleasant Valley, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated and speeding.

Aug. 18

1:20 p.m.: Carla S. Stephens, 44, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding and not having a valid license.

Aug. 19

12:25 a.m.: Deshawn A. Buckner, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving with a revoked license, driving while intoxicated and not wearing a seat belt.

1:50 a.m.: William D. Watts, 17, of Kansas City, was arrested in Henry County on charges of felony possession of heroin, tampering with a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen firearm.

1:50 a.m.: Charles A. Parker, 33, of Kansas City, was arrested in Henry County on charges of felony possession of heroin, tampering with a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated and possession of a stolen firearm.

1:50 a.m.: Cartez D. Mosby, 25, of Kansas City, was arrested in Henry County on charges of felony possession of heroin, possession of a stolen firearm, felony assault on a law enforcement officer and tampering with a motor vehicle.

9:25 p.m.: Leslie W. Haynes, 63, of Higginsville, was arrested in Saline County on charges of felony driving while intoxicated, felony driving while revoked, and careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash.
