Woman hurt in deer collision

A Warsaw woman was hurt Friday when her vehicle struck a deer in Benton County.

At 5:42 p.m., Michelle R. Groves, 50, was northbound on state Route 7 when she struck the deer south of Grand River Bridge, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Groves suffered minor injuries in the accident. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. The Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance District took her to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.

Driver hurt in Moniteau collision

A woman was hurt in a two-vehicle accident at 6:25 p.m. Friday in Moniteau County.

Kyle M. Brink, 20, of Tipton, was driving west on U.S. Route 50 when he struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Makayla L. Hardin, 22, of California, 45 feet west of Shooters Club Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Hardin wasn’t wearing a seat belt and had minor injuries. She took a private vehicle to St. Mary’s Hospital.

Man overturns in Pettis County

A man swerved across a road and overturned in Pettis County at 10:36 a.m. Saturday.

Jason B. Cooper, 34, of Calhoun, was driving north on Route E when he traveled off the right side of the roadway south of Morgan Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

His vehicle returned to the road and continued off the left side. Then, it traveled back across Route E, overturned and came to a rest off the right side.

Cooper wasn’t wearing a seat belt during the crash. He went in an ambulance to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Cellphone distracts driver before accident

A distracted driver struck the rear of another vehicle in Johnson County at 4:50 p.m. Saturday.

Bobby D. Cheney, 36, of Warrensburg, was eastbound on U.S. Route 50 behind Terry M. McDaniel, 55, of Mobile, Alabama, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Cheney became distracted with his cellphone, causing him to strike McDaniel’s vehicle.

McDaniel was wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries in the collision. Cheney wasn’t wearing a seat belt but was unhurt.

The Johnson County Ambulance District took McDaniel to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

Medical episode causes accident

A man crashed on U.S. Route 50 while suffering a medical condition Monday in Moniteau County.

Jerry L. Allen, 75, of Centertown, was eastbound on the highway when he suffered the medical episode at Scott Branch Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

This caused him to travel off the right side of the roadway and strike a fence. His van slid and struck another fence. It came to a rest off the right side of U.S. 50.

Allen was wearing a seat belt and didn’t suffer any injuries from the accident. He went in an ambulance to SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City to treat his medical condition.
