Man hurt in Johnson collision

A Johnson County accident sent a man to the hospital at 1:27 p.m. Saturday.

Justin J. Pyburn, 27, of Higginsville, attempted to make a left turn from Cooper Boulevard onto Business Route 13, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. He pulled into the path of Barbara A. Green, 58, of Higginsville, who was driving south.

Green struck Pyburn’s vehicle on the passenger side, causing injury to an occupant. Rodney G. Green, 58, of Higginsville, suffered moderate injuries and went with the Johnson County Ambulance District to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

All drivers and passengers involved in the accident were wearing seat belts.

Johnson crash turns fatal

A Kansas City woman died in a rollover crash Saturday in Johnson County.

At 4:29 p.m., Amanda R. Sanders, 26, was driving east at a high rate of speed on state Route 58 when she traveled off the roadway a mile west of Southwest 200th Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Her vehicle overturned multiple times and struck several trees.

Sanders wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from her car. Johnson County Coroner Clark Holdren pronounced her dead at the scene at 5:58 p.m.

A passenger in the vehicle suffered serious injuries. Danial E. Vanartsdalen, 36, of Kansas City, went in a Life Flight helicopter to Research Medical Center in Kansas City. Vanartsdalen also wasn’t wearing a seat belt during the crash.

Man killed on Route 131

A single-vehicle crash killed a Holden man at 10:42 p.m. Saturday in Johnson County.

Michel V. Evans, 54, was southbound on state Route 131 when he left the roadway and impacted a ditch south of Northwest 100th Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. The impact caused his vehicle to overturn.

Evans suffered fatal injuries. It is unknown whether he was wearing a seat belt. Johnson County Coroner Clark Holdren pronounced him dead on scene at 11:50 p.m.

Three teens hurt in crash

Three teenagers were injured in a Johnson County crash at 11:40 p.m. Saturday.

Zecharias W. Hogan, 18, of Whiteman Air Force Base, was driving west on Northeast 700th Road just past state Route 23, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. He failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the left side of the road, striking a tree.

Hogan and two passengers all were wearing seat belts. Paul E. Averbeck, 18, and Brandon L. Jaco, 17, both of Knob Noster, suffered moderate injuries. The Johnson County Ambulance District took them to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

Hogan suffered serious injuries. A Staff for Life helicopter flew him to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Sedalian hurt in Benton accident

A Sedalia man was hurt while driving in Benton County on Sunday.

Jesse W. Morris, 37, was southbound on Route BB at 8:05 a.m. when vehicle defects caused him to lose control of his car at Feaster Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Shirley C. Story, 68, of Warsaw, was driving north and struck Morris’ vehicle. Both drivers suffered moderate injuries.

The Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance District took Morris, who hadn’t been wearing a seat belt, to Bothwell Regional Health Center. Story was wearing a seat belt and went in an ambulance to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.

Warsaw woman crashes in Benton County

A Warsaw woman was hurt in a Benton County crash at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Angela Liell, 24, was eastbound on Route Z when she traveled off the right side of the highway and struck a ditch just west of Route M, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Liell was wearing a seat belt and had minor injuries. She chose to seek medical treatment on her own.

Medical episode causes crash

A North Carolina man crashed on Interstate 70 in Saline County on Sunday.

Christopher C. Warren, 27, of Raleigh, North Carolina, was eastbound on the interstate at the 66.4 mile marker when he suffered from a medical issue, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. He traveled off the right side of the highway and struck a cable barrier.

Warren sustained minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. A Sweet Springs ambulance took him to I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs.
