One killed in Morgan County accident
A Barnett man was killed in a one-vehicle accident at 4:15 p.m. Saturday in Morgan County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Billy D. Scrivner, 61, was driving eastbound on state Route 52, 700 feet west of Buttercup Road. Scrivner’s vehicle suffered a mechanical failure, causing it to cross the centerline and travel off the south edge of the roadway into a field. The vehicle then overturned several times.
Scrivner was pronounced at the scene. His passenger, Penny K. Houston, 55, of Smithton, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Capital Regional Hospital bu Mid-Mo Ambulance. According to the report, neither individual was wearing a safety device.
