Two cars collide on U.S. 50

Two people were hurt on U.S. Route 50 in Pettis County at 11:33 a.m. Monday.

The accident occurred as Eric J. Black, 32, of Knob Noster, and Andrew W. Carr, 21, of Whiteman Air Force Base, were driving east on the highway, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Carr’s vehicle started to rotate sideways east of Route MM, and Black’s truck hit the right side of his sedan. The truck then traveled off the right side of the roadway and continued down an embankment. Carr’s vehicle slid off the right side of the highway.

One passenger from each vehicle sustained minor injuries in the accident. Kenneth Crane, 10, of Knob Noster, was an occupant in Black’s truck, and Chalise M. Denison, 32, of Sedalia, was riding with Carr.

The Pettis County Ambulance District took Crane to Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia and Denison to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg. All drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts during the collision.

Henry crash injures one

A crash on an icy roadway left one person injured at 4:35 p.m. Monday in Henry County.

Mariam A. Cox, 18, of Independence, was northbound on state Route 13 when her vehicle hit a patch of ice in the right lane, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

The car began sliding and traveled off the right side of the roadway where it struck a guardrail face. Cox returned to the road and traveled off the left side. Her car struck a concrete barrier before coming to an uncontrolled stop against the barrier on the left shoulder.

Cox was wearing a seat belt and had minor injuries. An ambulance took her to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.

Man overturns off of highway

A man was injured in a Johnson County overturn crash at 6:04 p.m. Monday.

Dawson A. Grimes, 21, of Warrenton, was westbound on U.S. Route 50 at Route 13 when he traveled off the left side of the road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. His vehicle struck an embankment and overturned.

Grimes, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries. He went in an ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

Sedalian injured in Johnson crash

A Sedalia man was hurt in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday in Johnson County.

At 5:35 a.m., Brandon L. Wissman, 23, made a lane change on westbound U.S. Route 50 to pass another vehicle a half mile past Northwest 1801st Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Sydnee L. Ellis, 19, of Kingsville, had entered the intersection and began traveling west when Wissman struck the rear of her vehicle.

Both drivers were wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Ellis had minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene. Wissman suffered moderate injuries and went in an ambulance to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

Teenager hurt in one-car crash

A Clinton teenager was injured in a single-vehicle accident Tuesday in Henry County.

At 7:36 a.m., Katelynn R. Jones, 16, was eastbound on Route C when she traveled off the right side of the highway west of Northeast 1001st Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. She overcorrected, causing her car to travel off the opposite side of the road, where it overturned.

Jones was wearing a seat belt during the crash. She took a private vehicle to Clinton where she received treatment for minor injuries at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital.
