Driver injured on U.S. 65
A man is in serious condition after an accident Thursday in Saline County.
Joseph Givens, of Waverly, was driving south on U.S. Route 65 at 2:57 p.m. when a tractor trailer in front of him slowed to make a left turn, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Givens overtook and struck the rear of the trailer south of 110th Road.
Givens wasn’t wearing a seat belt during the collision and suffered serious injuries. The Saline County Ambulance District took him to Marshall for treatment at Fitzgibbon Hospital.
The driver of the trailer, Daniel F. Smithheiser, 37, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, was unhurt.
