Benton collision injures two

Two people were hurt in a Benton County collision at 2:15 p.m. Friday.

Curtis E. Thompson, 52, of Lincoln, pulled out from a private drive on Route H just north of Alps Lane and struck a southbound vehicle, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Thompson was unhurt in the accident, but two people in the southbound car were injured. Laura M. Caylor, 60, and Hazel M. Conwell, 76, both of Lincoln, suffered moderate injuries. Both went by ambulance to Bothwell Regional Health Center.

All drivers and passengers involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.

Three injured in two-car collision

Two cars collided in Benton County at 12:32 p.m. Saturday, causing injuries to three people.

Kyleigh B. Hines, 16, of Warsaw, was driving east on state Route 7 when she crossed the center line just east of Route KK, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. She struck a westbound car driven by Heather M. Weidenhammer, 40, of Kansas City.

Hines and Weidenhammer both suffered moderate injuries. A passenger in Weidenhammer’s car, Sarah M. Everhart, 27, of Kearney, sustained serious injuries. All three were wearing seat belts during the accident.

The Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance District took Hines to Bothwell Regional Health Center and Weidenhammer to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton. A Life Flight helicopter flew Everhart to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

Rainy conditions cause accident

A woman was hurt in an accident resulting from wet road conditions in Henry County at 4:20 p.m. Sunday.

Cheryl A. Hertel, 54, of Blue Springs, was driving on state Route 7 just south of the Urich exit when her car hydroplaned, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Hertel lost control of her car and traveled off the left side of the roadway where she overturned.

Hertel was wearing a seat belt and had moderate injuries. She received treatment at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
