Three-car accident in Johnson County

A man was hurt as three vehicles collided at 8:50 a.m. Friday in Johnson County. 

The accident occurred as Christopher R. Ward, 23, of Warrensburg, crossed the center line of northbound Route 13 at Northwest 575th Road while avoiding an unknown vehicle, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

His vehicle overtook and collided head-on with a southbound vehicle, driven by Donald L. Murphy, 56, of Warrensburg. Murphy then struck the driver’s side of another car in the northbound lane, driven by Erica L. Camara, 38, of Warrensburg.

Murphy was the only person with reported injuries from the accident, as he sustained minor wounds. The Johnson County Ambulance District took him to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

Murphy and Camara were both wearing seat belts during the collision while Ward was not.

Three vehicles collide on U.S. 50

Two people were injured in Johnson County in a three-vehicle collision at 10:10 a.m. Friday.

Michael J. Robinson, 67, of Bates City, attempted to cross the westbound lanes of U.S. Route 50 from southbound Route Z when he drove into the path of Patricia L. Doerflinger, 65, of Warrensburg, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Doerflinger’s vehicle collided with Robinson and traveled off the left side of the roadway. It then struck a northbound vehicle driven by Daniel W. Gray, 45, of Pleasant Hill.

All three drivers were wearing seat belts during the accident.

Robinson suffered serious injuries, and the Johnson County Ambulance District took him to Lee’s Summit Medical Center. Doerflinger had minor injuries and went to Lee’s Summit Medical Center in a private vehicle.

Three hurt in rear-end collision

Three people were injured in Saline County as three cars were caught in a rear-end collision Friday.

Glenn Johnson, 60, of Sidney, Nebraska, was eastbound at 12:10 p.m. on Interstate 70 at the 77.4 mile marker when he approached traffic congestion in a construction zone, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. 

Because of poor conditions, Johnson failed to see vehicles were stopped in front of him. He overtook and struck the rear of James Whitesides, 69, of Coto de Caza, California. The impact pushed Whitesides’ vehicle into the rear of Michael Beam, 59, of Shawnee, Kansas.

Whitesides and two passengers in his vehicle were injured. All were wearing seat belts during the collision. Kristine Whitesides, 69, of Coto de Caza, and Benjamin Hulme, 18, of Saratoga, California, both had minor injuries while Whitesides suffered moderate injuries.

The Sweet Springs Ambulance District took all three to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Woman hurt in Benton crash

A Lincoln woman was hurt after striking a tree at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Benton County.

Shirley G. Huetter, 35, was driving east on Lost Valley Road east of Lakeview Avenue when she traveled off the right side of the road and struck the tree, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Huetter sustained minor injuries and went in a private vehicle for medical treatment. It is unknown whether she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Man ejected from motorcycle

A Raymore man was hurt after being ejected from his motorcycle Sunday in Henry County.

At 10:44 a.m., Terry M. Townsend, 50, attempted to pass another vehicle while driving north on Route PP at Hickory Hollow, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

After passing the vehicle, he overcorrected and traveled off the right side of the roadway. Townsend was then ejected from his motorcycle.

An ambulance from Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton brought him to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Townsend was wearing a helmet when he was ejected.

French bicyclist injured in Moniteau County

A French bicyclist was injured in a hit-and-run accident at 6:44 p.m. Sunday in Moniteau County.

Emmanuel E. Roussel, 49, of Availles-Sur-Seiche, France, was riding a bicycle west on Lookout Trail just west of the Cole County line, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

A Silver Hyundai Tucson struck him while traveling west on the trail and then left the scene. Roussel was not wearing a helmet and suffered moderate injuries. The Mid-Missouri Ambulance District took him to St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.
