Motorcyclist ejected in Johnson County

A Knob Noster man was hurt as his motorcycle ejected him Wednesday in Johnson County.

Steven L. Mercer, 38, was riding the motorcycle at 4:35 p.m. when he traveled off the right side of state Route 23 north of Southeast 275th Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. His motorcycle overturned and ejected him.

Mercer was wearing a helmet and sustained minor injuries. An ambulance took him to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg for treatment.

Driver falls asleep, strikes mailbox

A woman was hurt after a driver fell asleep at the wheel in Morgan County at 9:18 a.m. Wednesday.

Ryan T. Fife, 19, of Camdenton, was driving south on state Route 135 south of Buttons Road when he fell asleep, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. His vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a mailbox.

Neither Fife nor a passenger, Samantha L. Atherton, 19, of Gravois Mills, was wearing a seat belt during the accident. Fife was unhurt while Atherton suffered minor injuries. She went in an ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.
