Pedestrian struck in hit-and-run

A man is in serious condition after a Johnson County hit-and-run accident Tuesday.

Nicholas D. Lawson, 31, of Osceola, was outside of his vehicle at 6:42 p.m. on eastbound U.S. Route 50 east of Northwest 175th Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. He was attempting to refuel his vehicle when an unknown vehicle struck him and left the scene.

The impact inflicted serious injuries to Lawson. A Life Flight helicopter flew him to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment.

Woman hurt in rear-end collision

A rear-end collision in Morgan County injured a Versailles woman at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday.

Kira D. Shepard, 36, struck the rear of another southbound vehicle on Route 5 north of the Route TT North junction, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Chad R. Baker, 34, of Springfield, was making a left turn when Shepard collided with the back of his truck.

Shepard was wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries. An ambulance took her to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. Baker was unhurt in the collision.
