This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department

Arrests

March 28

2:38 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 800 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a theft. The complainant said a suspect stole a large number of lottery tickets, some of which had various winning amounts. Stephanie M. Lesofski, 31, of the 200 block of Scott Joplin Court, was arrested on a charge of stealing. 

March 29

2:01 a.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at East 16th Street and South Collins Avenue. Upon contact, the officers saw signs of intoxication. The driver refused to perform sobriety tests and was arrested. Brandon N. Green, 40, of the 2300 block of East 15th Street, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. 

6:49 p.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of 10th Street and Ohio Avenue for stopping beyond the lines on a four-way stop. A computer check showed the driver had a revoked license. Further investigation revealed they were also in possession of drug paraphernalia. Christopher M. Brown, 34, of the 1000 block of South Massachusetts Avenue, was arrested on charges of driving with a revoked license and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Incidents

March 29

12:08 a.m.: An officer responded to the 2800 block of East 12th Street for a report of a disturbance. The caller said someone pulled a gun and pointed it at their sibling. Contact was made with the victim. 

Pettis County Sheriff’s Office

March 27

10:45 p.m.: Deputies responded to a business on South U.S. Highway 65 for a report of a shooting. The reporting party said two male subjects forced themselves into his room, placed a gun to his head, and fired a round near him before fleeing the area. Following an investigation, the reporting party, Jacob Baker, was taken into custody for filing a false report, tampering with evidence, and drug-related charges. He was later charged with misdemeanor tampering with physical evidence, misdemeanor making a false report, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Arrests

March 29

11:57 p.m.: Anthony G. Sharpe, 42, of Birmingham, Alabama, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated and registration violation. 

March 30

6:27 p.m.: Shannon D. Stockwell, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for felony possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), no valid plates, and no proof of insurance. 

March 31

4:40 p.m.: Jason D. Ashley, 42, of Clarksburg, was arrested in Moniteau County for felony possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
