This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Feb. 1

9:15 a.m.: Timothy S. Lemaire, 29, of the 1800 block of South Quincy Avenue, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property. An officer stopped Lemaire’s vehicle and learned his license plates were reported stolen from Johnson County.

1:10 p.m.: Travis L. Davis, 30, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor identity theft and felony resisting arrest. An officer was dispatched to the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Garfield Avenue for a report of a disturbance between a man and a woman. Officers spoke with the two subjects, and the man ran away from them. After a foot pursuit, Davis was arrested and reportedly gave false identifying information. The officers took him to Bothwell Regional Health Center because he complained of a leg injury. The hospital later admitted him for symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The officers are submitting charges to the state prosecutor.

1:15 p.m.: Jonathan C. Seay, 20, of Smithville, received a municipal court summons for a charge of stealing. An officer responded to the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a shoplifter. An employee at the store said Seay attempted to steal 22 individual Lego characters, totaling $86.24. Seay was cooperative with management and received a municipal court summons.

Feb. 2

8:10 a.m.: Brent Gibson, 27, of Marshall, received a municipal court summons for a charge of driving without a license. An officer stopped Gibson’s vehicle in the area of South Mitchell Road and West Main Street for improper registration. Dispatch notified the officer that Gibson didn’t have a driver’s license.

11:10 a.m.: Gregory T. Leigh, 32, of St. Charles, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. An officer responded to a vehicle accident at Broadway Boulevard and South Ohio Avenue. He found one of the drivers, Leigh, was showing signs of impairment. The officer placed him under arrest and took him to Bothwell Regional Health Center to obtain a blood test. He then booked and released Leigh at the Pettis County Jail.

Incidents

Feb. 1

7:40 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of Thompson Boulevard for a theft report. The victim said he was inside a business and noticed as he was leaving that a window on his vehicle was broken. Someone broke inside and stole a backpack with two laptop computers and his wallet, which contained his driver’s license, military ID, two credit cards and cash.

Feb. 2

9:15 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 600 block of South Engineer Avenue for a report of harassment. The victim said a subject contacted her and said he was driving from Columbia to shoot her. The victim didn’t want to pursue charges but wanted to notify police of the threat.

Jan. 17

9:50 a.m.: Deputies took a report of an assault that occurred in the Pettis County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.

Arrests

Feb. 1

1:45 p.m.: Nicholas T. Bush, 29, of Pleasant Hill, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

4:10 p.m.: Mark A. Barnard, 50, of La Tour, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

9:20 p.m.: Cornejo Nunez, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving and driving without a license.

Feb. 2

1 a.m.: Nery D. Escobar-Chavarria, 25, of California, was arrested in Moniteau County on charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, driving with a suspended license and not having insurance.

4 p.m.: Devin T. Leavy, 25, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of possession of a controlled substance, driving with a revoked license, not having valid registration and violation of interlock restrictions.

Feb. 3

1:40 a.m.: Ross A. Brower, 23, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway and failure to wear a seat belt.

1:40 p.m.: Holli V. Lindsey, 35, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County on a charge of felony possession of methamphetamine.
