This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 16

10:30 a.m.: Erik Mathew Elkins, 40, of the 400 block of North Mill Avenue, received a municipal court summons for a charge of trespassing. Officers responded to the 100 block of West Sixth Street for reported trespassing. They confirmed Elkins had a trespass warning on file for the location. The officers arrested Elkins without incident and took him to the police station, where he was later released with a municipal court summons.

9:40 p.m.: Cole Duane Summers, 23, of Kansas City, was arrested on charges of felony resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. An officer stopped a vehicle for having no license plate lights at South Limit Avenue and West 20th Street. The driver, Summers, reportedly got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers apprehended and arrested Summers, who also had a no-bond warrant.

11:30 p.m.: Brendon A. Ebersold, 30, of St. Joseph, was arrested on charges of felony third-degree domestic assault, third-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and misdemeanor resisting arrest. Officers responded to a mutual aid request for a fight at a business in the 4800 block of South Limit Avenue. They saw two men on the ground outside the business and separated them, placing the aggressor in restraints. The aggressor, Ebersold, continued to be combative and verbally aggressive toward the officers and reportedly assaulted one while being placed in a patrol car.

Jan. 17

12:40 p.m.: Erik Mathew Elkins, 40, of the 400 block of North Mill Street, was arrested on a charge of first-degree trespassing. Officers responded to the 400 block of West Pettis Street for reported trespassing. They confirmed the suspect, Elkins, had received a trespass warning from the property earlier in the month. They arrested him and brought him to the Pettis County Jail.

7:45 p.m.: William J. Albrecht, 60, of Springfield, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Albrecht’s vehicle for having no registration. A computer check showed he had a suspended license.

8:35 p.m.: Johnanthan Fredrick Cota, 30, of the 400 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested on charges of pedestrian walking along a roadway and failure to obey. An officer stopped Cota for walking north on South Massachusetts Avenue between East Fifth and Sixth street. He had been walking on the roadway when a sidewalk was available. Cota reportedly refused a lawful detention and resisted arrest. The officer took him into custody and brought him to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released with a municipal court summons.

Jan. 18

1:40 a.m.: Dewayne L. Charles, 20, of Kansas City, was arrested on charges of driving with a revoked license and misdemeanor identity theft. An officer stopped Charles’ vehicle in the 1600 block of South Limit Avenue for speeding. Charles reportedly gave a false name. The officer eventually learned his identity and found he had a revoked license.

Incidents

Jan. 11

3 p.m.: A complainant called the police department to report a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred Dec. 6. The complainant identified the suspect.

Jan. 13

9:50 p.m.: An officer conducted a consent search of a vehicle. He located a coat with methamphetamine inside it. A social security card was in the same container as the methamphetamine. The officer is submitting charges to the state prosecutor.

Jan. 14

3:40 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of South Barrett Avenue in reference to a subject check. The caller reported someone, who kept saying “help me,” was trying to get into her house. The officers arrived on scene and saw a white man at the back door of the residence with the storm door open. He was confused and received treatment from the Pettis County Ambulance District before going to Bothwell Regional Health Center. The officers have requested a charge of trespassing against him.

Jan. 18

3:15 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a store in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a trespass complaint. They spoke with employees and the suspect, who had received a trespass warning from the store on a prior occasion. The officers are submitting a charge of trespassing to the state prosecutor.

Pettis County Sheriff’s Office

Arrests

Jan. 18

12:10 a.m.: Bradley D. Kumber, of Sedalia, was arrested on a felony charge of driving with a revoked license. Deputies arrested Kumber during a traffic stop in the 800 block of East Broadway Boulevard.

1:20 a.m.: Serghei Boris Ciobanu, of Green Ridge, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputies responded to the 1200 block of East 18th Street with the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force in reference to illegal drug activity. They spoke with the homeowner who gave consent to a search of the residence. Deputies reportedly located several subjects inside and arrested two. They took Ciobanu into custody on drug-related charges and Jennifer Catherine Fitzpatrick, of Sedalia, for an outstanding warrant from Texas County.

Arrests

Jan. 17

12:50 a.m.: Danny L. Ebersold, 50, of Otterville, was arrested in Pettis County on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

9:55 p.m.: Marcus S. Paige, 36, of Lexington, was arrested in Saline County on charges of felony driving while revoked, not having insurance and not wearing a seat belt.
