Arrests

July 7

7:10 p.m.: An officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for having expired license plates on Winchester Drive. During the stop, the driver was found to have an active warrant from Pettis County and they were placed under arrest. Consent to search the vehicle was given and a controlled substance was found in the driver’s possession. Anastasia I. Mann, 21, of Ionia, was arrested for the warrant, possession of a controlled substance, and operating a motor vehicle on a highway without a valid license. 

July 11

10:26 p.m.: Officers responded to a residence on the 1100 block of Sixth Street. Upon arrival, officers learned of domestic violence resulting in the injury of a victim. Officers arrested the assailant and found a small amount of marijuana on their person. Lillian R. Matthews, 19, of the 1100 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested for felony third-degree domestic assault and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. 

Incidents

July 10 

4:54 p.m.: An officer spoke with a victim in the police department lobby. They said their 1998 Subaru was in the possession of a family member and was stolen from the family member’s residence in the 500 block of West 11th Street. Contact was made with the family member who confirmed the vehicle had been stolen around 7 a.m. The vehicle had not been recovered at the time of the police report. 

July 11

6:09 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of East 10th Street in reference to a theft. The caller said a safe had been taken from their residence while they had been gone. The safe contained jewelry and personal items valued at $9,500. No arrests had been made at the time of the police report.

9:29 p.m.: Avery B. Cardwell, 18, of Garden City, was arrested in Johnson County for felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a felony warrant from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department. 

9:29 p.m.: Dietrich G. Schalk, 19, of Garden City, was arrested in Johnson County for felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
