This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department

Arrests

March 21

1:20 p.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop on East 13th Street for a vehicle’s brake light being out. The officer could smell marijuana while approaching the vehicle and a search revealed the driver was in possession of marjiuana. Christopher M. Ramirez, 34, of Warsaw, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana. 

Incidents

March 20

4:39 p.m.: Officers responded to an injury accident on North U.S. Highway 65, south of Eagleview Drive. The investigation revealed a southbound minivan crossed the centerline into the path of a semi-truck traveling north on Highway 65. The two vehicles collided head-on. 

The driver of the van sustained serious injuries and was transported to University Hospital in Columbia by ambulance. The truck driver did not report any injuries. The accident shut down Highway 65 for two hours due to a diesel leak from the semi truck. The accident is still under investigation.

Arrests

March 22

5:04 a.m.: Fred Hunly was arrested in the 400 block of South Walnut Street in Smithton for bribery of a public servant, promoting a sexual performance by a minor, assault on a law enforcement official, and resisting arrest.

Arrests

March 21

2:30 p.m.: Arthur E. Doyle, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and two misdemeanor warrants out of Pettis County. 

March 22

12:00 a.m.: Zachary T. Fisher, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested in Cooper County on charges of possession of contraband (methamphetamine) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
