This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

March 7

3:44 a.m.: Nicholas Cole Stebbins, 28, of the 4200 block of West Main Street, was arrested near the intersection of West Main Street and Oak Grove Lane on a charge of operating a vehicle without a valid license. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle with expired registration.

9:53 p.m.: Raymond Charles Berry Jr., 30, of the 1000 block of South Murray Avenue, was arrested in the 1900 block of West Main Street on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle with a taillight out. A computer check revealed the driver had a Saline County warrant and was arrested. A police K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle and a search revealed the driver was in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. 

March 8

11:23 a.m.: Damon M. Gordon, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested in the 600 block of West Fourth Street on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, third-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a concealable weapon and first-degree trespassing. An officer responded to a report of a suspect squatting in an apartment and harassing tenants. The officer made contact with the subject, who would not open the door and refused to give his name. The landlord was contacted and arrived at the scene. The landlord told the subject to leave but he again refused. The landlord then entered the apartment and the subject pointed a 9mm pistol at him. The subject slammed the door on the landlord’s foot. Everyone left the area and officers set up a perimeter around the building. After the officer talked with the suspect for 20 minutes, he came out unarmed and was taken into custody.

10:46 p.m.: Dakota R. Franklin, 20, of Windsor, was arrested in the 1800 block of South Limit Avenue on a charge of driving with a suspended license. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle with expired registration.

March 9

12:58 a.m.: James Thomas Lairmore Jr., 21, of the 100 block of Villa Drive, was arrested near the intersection of West 32nd Street and South Limit Avenue on a charge of driving with a suspended license. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle with expired registration.

5:44 p.m.: Austin J. Igou, 18, of Kansas City, was issued a municipal court summons in the 1500 block of West Third Street for possession of marijuana. Officers responded to a report of damage to a residence. Four subjects were located in a park. Investigation found marijuana on the suspect.

5:54 p.m.: Nathan Alexander Ethridge, 19, of Independence, was arrested in the 1500 block of West Third Street on charges of destruction of non-city property and trespassing. A complainant reported a subject caused damage to a vacant property. Officers found a window had been broken out. Ethridge was found a few blocks away and he admitted to breaking the window.

March 10

12:03 a.m.: Dewayne Lee Charles Jr., 20, of Kansas City, was arrested near the intersection of West 16th Street and South Sneed Avenue on a charge of driving with a revoked license. A traffic stop was conducted.

3 a.m.: Zachariah P. Harlan, 30, of the 300 block of East Second Street, was arrested in the 1200 block of South Limit Avenue on a charge of driving with a revoked license. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle with no license plate light.

6:34 p.m.: Troy E. Cureton, 26, of the 800 block of McVey Road, was issued a municipal court summons near the intersection of East Main Street and North Ohio Avenue for possession of marijuana. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle with no front plate. Officers smelled an odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle located marijuana. The driver was issued a summons.

10:22 p.m.: Stacy L. Belle, 38, of the 300 block of East Second Street, was arrested in the 1200 block of South Limit Avenue on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Zachariah P. Harlan, 30, of the 300 block of East Second Street, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a revoked license and possession of marijuana. A vehicle check was conducted for a vehicle that previously had a driver with a revoked license. The driver was found to be revoked. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found on the driver and in the vehicle. A methamphetamine pipe with methamphetamine was located in an occupant’s purse. Both subjects were arrested.

Incidents

March 8

6:03 p.m.: A firearm valued at $300 was reported stolen in the 800 block of West Broadway Boulevard.

10:42 p.m.: Officers and the Sedalia Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 200 block of South Prospect Avenue. The two-story house was fully engulfed. SFD extinguished the fire. The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted.

March 10

2:06 p.m.: A red 2008 Honda scooter valued at $1,000 was reported stolen from a garage in the 400 block of North Stewart Avenue between March 7 and March 10.

Arrests

March 9

12:26 a.m.: Alfred Fred was arrested in the 400 block of South Walnut in La Monte on a charge of first-degree assault

4:57 p.m.: Jeffrey R. Stoney was arrested in the 6100 block of U.S. Highway 50 on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dusty Durham, of Warsaw, was arrested for shoplifting.

Incidents

March 8

10:58 a.m.: Sedalia School District 200 administration reported to school resource officer Sgt. John Cline that an adult male had been seen trespassing on the Smith-Cotton Junior High campus the afternoon of March 7 after school was dismissed. However, students were still on campus for after-school activities. After an investigation by the SRO, a suspect was positively identified and charges of first-degree trespassing have been requested.

March 9

1:46 a.m.: Emily S. Dills, 22, of Clarksburg, was arrested in Moniteau County on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

March 10

8:35 p.m.: Russell W. Stanbrough, 66, of Barnett, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident.
