This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

March 15

9 p.m.: Police working with a task force officer from the Western Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in reference to a crime committed in Sedalia. The information was reported through Facebook and involved sexual relations between an adult male and a juvenile female. Contact was made with Caleb B. Hamner, 35, of the 200 block of West 10th Street. Hamner was placed under arrest for second-degree statutory rape. 

11:39 p.m.: An officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of East 16th Street and South Washington Avenue for improper vehicle registration. The vehicle failed to yield and accelerated, leading the officer on a chase. The pursuit was terminated at city limits. Pettis County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers located the vehicle and apprehended Daniel E. Howard, 43, of the 200 block of North Mill Street. Howard was placed under arrest for misdemeanor resisting arrest and driving with a suspended/revoked license. 

March 16

2:26 a.m.: Rodney D. Jackson, 33, of the 2000 block of Twin Pine Drive, was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at South Moniteau Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard. The vehicle was driving without its headlights on. An investigation revealed Jackson had a suspended license. 

7:09 a.m.: Braulio A. Chavez, 21, of the 4000 block of Forest Oak Way, Memphis, Tennessee, was arrested for driving without an operator’s license. Officers conducted a traffic stop on South Kentucky Avenue at West Second Street. A computer search revealed Chavez did not have the correct license. 

10:36 a.m.: Ashley R. Brandenburg, 29, of the 900 block of Westwood Avenue, was arrested for possession of marijuana. An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Winchester Drive. A probable cause search was conducted revealing marijuana. 

1:32 p.m.: Avery N. Williamson, 28, of the 2000 block of South Stewart Avenue, was arrested for felony third-degree domestic assault. Officers responded to the 2000 block of South Stewart Avenue for a physical disturbance. Contact was made with the victim who said she had sustained injuries when the suspect threw an object at her. The suspect said he threw the object, but she had not sustained the injury from it. 

5:03 p.m.: An officer responded to a park on the 2000 block of South Grand Avenue for a report of a domestic assault in progress. Several calls had come in to report a male and female were assaulting their son. The officer made contact with the suspects and Amber R. Edwards, 34, of the 500 block of Quincy Avenue, refused to speak with the officer and repeatedly yelled profanities at a group of juveniles. Edwards then resisted being placed into handcuffs. She was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and public peace disturbance. 

9:12 p.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West 11th Street and South Grand Avenue. A computer check showed the driver, Elizabeth M. Jones, 20, of the 900 block of South Barrett Avenue, was driving under a suspended license. Further investigation revealed Jones was in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. She was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license, drug violation possession (methamphetamine), and misdemeanor drug violation possession (marijuana). 

Incidents

March 16

2:22 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. Management said a male had stolen a pack of T-shirts and cotton balls. He was described as a slim white male wearing a woman’s sweater, and with a shaved head. He had not been apprehended at the time of the report. 

6:21 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East Third Street for a hit-and-run accident. The victim said the driver of a red Ford van pulled out of a parking lot and struck the victim’s vehicle. The driver got out of her vehicle to look at the damage before driving away. The suspect had not been apprehended at the time of the report.

March 16

3:45 p.m.: Nathan Chrisman, of Kansas City, was arrested in the 300 block of Chestnut Street in La Monte on charges of property damage and possession of a controlled substance.

March 15

7:29 p.m.: Raymond E. Cramer, 58, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County for charges of four misdemeanor warrants out of Independence, possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. 

March 17

12:45 a.m.: Hugo F. Yanez Gonzalez, 25, of Memphis, Tennessee, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of excessive speeding and driving while intoxicated.
