This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Nov. 23

12:20 p.m.: Johnny Resendiz-Chavez, 20, of the 2500 block of Bristol Lane, was arrested on charges of driving without a license and disobeying a stop sign. An officer stopped Resendiz-Chavez after seeing him ignore a stop sign. His vehicle didn’t have license plates, as well. During the stop, the officer reportedly learned Resendiz-Chavez didn’t have a driver’s license. The officer placed him under arrest and brought him to the police station, where he was booked and released.

2 p.m.: Brandon Derrell Franklin, 34, of the 2400 block of First Street, received a municipal court summons for a charge of possession of marijuana. An officer stopped a vehicle in the area of West Main Street and Industrial Drive. He could smell the odor of marijuana after approaching the vehicle. A search of the car reportedly revealed a small amount of marijuana.

Nov. 24

2:55 p.m.: Raul Morin, 31, of the 300 block of North Engineer Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving without a license. An officer observed Morin make two turns without signaling. He stopped his vehicle on South Kentucky Avenue at West 16th Street. Dispatch informed the officer that Morin didn’t have a valid license.

6:40 p.m.: Bailey Wayne Bardin, 19, of Sedalia, was arrested on three counts of fourth-degree domestic assault. Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of South Ohio Avenue for a disturbance. When they arrived, Bardin was irate, yelling and screaming at the complainants in a threatening manner. One complainant said he pushed her earlier in the day, causing her elbow to be cut. The other two complainants said Bardin had been threatening to harm them throughout the day, and they were afraid of him. The officers took him into custody.

Nov. 25

12:20 p.m.: Holly J. Johnson, 18, of Warsaw; Blake A. Morris, 20, of Warsaw; and Albert Eugene Nash, 23, of the 800 block of West Third Street, received a municipal court summons for a charge of possession of marijuana. An officer stopped a vehicle with expired license plates. During the stop, the officer reportedly found all three occupants in the vehicle to be in possession of marijuana. He issued municipal court summonses to all three and released them from the scene.

2:40 p.m.: Matthew J. Grant, 30, was arrested on a charge of trespassing. An officer responded to the 400 block of East 12th Street for a report of someone breaking into a vacant residence. He met with the caller, a neighbor, who said a male subject entered the bounded-up residence and didn’t come out. Officers knocked on the boarded doors several times with no response. An employee of the property owner arrived on scene and helped the officers enter the residence. Grant was reportedly inside and appeared to have been “squatting” there. The officers placed him under arrest and took him to the Pettis County Jail.

Incidents

Nov. 23

2:25 p.m.: A complainant reported the theft of items from his apartment. He reported someone had stolen climbing gear worth $1,500 and a $400 laptop. At the time of the report, the officer had no suspect information.

Nov. 24

8 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of South Harding Avenue for a report of a burglary that wasn’t in progress. He met the victim, who said someone had broken into his trailer sometime between Thursday and Friday. The victim said he was missing two window air conditioning units, a washer and a TV.

Arrests

Nov. 23

1:20 p.m.: Jeremy Flaspohler, 42, of Holden, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nov. 24

10 a.m.: Harry E. Keil, 60, of Quincy, Illinois, was arrested in Benton County on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

3:35 p.m.: Michael D. Golden, 48, of Elkmont, Alabama, was arrested in Benton County on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
