This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Oct. 8

9:30 p.m.: Tammy L. Adams, 51, of the 400 block of South Grand Avenue, received a municipal court summons for a charge of stealing. An officer responded to a store in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of a theft. The complainant said Adams selected two items of merchandise, worth $28.36, and used them to make a fraudulent return. The officer located and arrested Adams. She was released with a municipal court summons.

Oct. 16

9:55 a.m.: Kiley P. Tumlinson, 17, of the 2500 block of Margaret Avenue, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana. Bryce K. Langley, 17, of the 700 block of East Ninth Street, was arrested on a charge of interfering with an arrest. An officer stopped Tumlinson’s vehicle near West 14th Street on South State Fair Boulevard for speeding. The officer noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and reportedly found marijuana inside. While the officer was searching Tumlinson’s vehicle, Langley arrived on scene. He refused to leave and reportedly attempted to open the patrol car door where Tumlinson was sitting. The officer took Langley into custody, as well.

Oct. 19

6:20 a.m.: Andrew L. Brown, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of second-degree trespassing. An officer was dispatched to a store in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of trespassing. An employee said a woman who was inside the business had previously received a trespass warning from the store. The officer located the woman, Brown, and checked her name through dispatch. He found she had two municipal court warrants for failure to appear. He took her into custody on the warrants and an added trespassing charge.

3:50 p.m.: Alan J. Powell, 36, of the 800 block of West Seventh Street, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of stealing. An officer was dispatched to the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of stealing. An employee said the store had been investigating Powell, a former employee, for several weeks and finally found video footage showing him stealing items from the business. The combined value of the items totaled to $451.88. The officer gathered copies of the surveillance video and statements from the employee before taking Powell into custody.

10:30 p.m.: William R. Taylor, 47, of the 400 block of North Lamine Avenue, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, failure to maintain financial responsibility and failure to register annually with the Department of Revenue. An officer arrested Taylor after stopping his vehicle near West Sixth Street and South Kentucky Avenue.

Incidents

Oct. 15

9:20 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the area of South Engineer Avenue and East Third Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. They spoke with the victim, who said a suspect pulled out a gun and said he would kill her. The suspect fled the scene before the officers arrived. The incident is still under investigation.

Oct. 19

11 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a living facility in the 300 block of West Seventh Street for a vehicle theft report. The caller said a man staying at the facility had stolen a van belonging to the home about 1:15 a.m. The man had gathered some clothes and other items. He was caught on video taking the van from the street in front of the facility, and he hadn’t returned the van at the time of the call. The van has a value of about $1,500.

11:55 a.m.: Officers responded to a disturbance call at an assisted living facility in the 1400 block of West Third Street. A client had threatened staff members with a pool cue because he was angry about a situation at the home. The client agreed to go with officers to Bothwell Regional Health Center for evaluation. The officers are applying for charges of assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Incidents

Oct. 22

9:35 a.m.: Deputies took a harassment complaint at the Sheriff’s Office. The reporting party said it was the second week in a row that their neighbor had been shooting fireworks at their home. An investigation is ongoing.

Arrests

Oct. 19

5:38 p.m.: Jeffrey L. Payne, 57, of Shawnee, Kansas, was arrested in Henry County on charges of possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

9 p.m.: Benjamin A. Schulte, 28, of St. Charles, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving.
