Police Reports Oct. 9

This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department 

Arrests 

Oct. 4 

11:20 a.m.: Gage Anderson Fancher, 18, of the 1600 block of South Ingram Avenue, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property less than $150. A business in the 600 block of West Pettis Avenue reported a theft of a license plate. Later on the same day, officers recovered the license plate on another vehicle in western Sedalia. The driver of the vehicle, Fancher, was arrested. 

Oct. 5 

10:05 a.m.: Jacob Levi King, 24, of the 1500 block of East Fourth Street, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor identity theft and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer conducted a vehicle check at a business in the 100 block of East Broadway Boulevard. Before the officer reached the vehicle, a man exited the car and went into the store. He spoke with the subject, King, and, after further investigation, confirmed he had multiple Pettis County warrants. The officer arrested King and reportedly found he was in possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Oct. 6 

2:10 a.m.: Joshua James Mabrey, 38, of the 2200 block of West First Street Terrace, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and first-degree property damage. An officer was dispatched to a parking lot at West Fifth Street and South Kentucky Avenue for a property damage complaint. The caller said a known person damaged a vehicle by running a key or similar item over it. There was no estimate for the cost of the damage at the time of the report, but every painted surface of the vehicle had been damaged. The officer stopped Mabrey’s vehicle near South Grand Avenue and West Main Street and arrested him on a DWI charge. 

Oct. 7 

4:25 a.m.: Robert P. Bemiss, 28, of the 100 block of East 24th Street, was arrested on charges of first-degree property damage, second-degree property damage, misdemeanor stealing from a building and two counts of second-degree burglary. An officer was dispatched to the 4300 block of Wisconsin Avenue for a burglary alarm at a business. While the officer was traveling to the alarm, dispatch advised that the security company checked cameras and found there had been an actual attempt to gain entry into the store. The officer found glass on the front doors damaged, but the building was still secure. While he was waiting for management, dispatch reported a second alarm for glass breakage in the 2500 block of West Broadway Boulevard. Officers located a suspect still inside the second building, where the bottom window of the front door was broken. The security company provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle, which matched the person arrested at the second location. The first business reported about $1,000 in damage to the exterior doors. 

6:45 p.m.: Bobby Joe Moore, 41, of the 1100 block of East 13th Street, was arrested on charges of felony third-degree domestic assault and driving with a suspended license. Officers were dispatched to the area of East 10th Street and South Massachusetts Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance. The suspect, Moore, left the scene, but officers later located him. After investigating the incident, they arrested Moore on a Sedalia municipal failure to appear warrant and on new charges. 

Incidents 

Oct. 2

4:30 p.m.: An officer took a theft report at the police station lobby in reference to a failure to return a vehicle from the 2100 block of South Limit Avenue. A business reported a vehicle, valued at $3,000, was never returned. The business provided suspect information, and the officer is requesting a charge of failure to return rental property. 

Oct. 4 

5 p.m.: SPD performed a welfare check of children living in the 1100 block of South Osage Avenue. After investigation, officers raised concerns about the living conditions within the home. Police notified the Department of Social Services Children’s Division of the welfare check and findings to further investigate. The case was under investigation at the time of the report. 

Oct. 5 

5:50 a.m.: A business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard reported a subject attempted to pass a fake $100 bill. The business provided information about the suspect. 

Oct. 6 

12:15 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Brianna Boulevard in reference to a 911 hang-up call. While they were in the area, a subject flagged the officers down and told them a friend had been raped. The incident is under investigation. 

5 p.m.: An officer was asked to check the area of Spring Fork Lake in an attempt to locate a stolen Crown Victoria from Mississippi. He located the vehicle in the parking lot near the boat ramp. A towing company came to the scene and brought the vehicle back to the SPD parking lot.

Oct. 8

1:10 a.m.: An officer was checking vehicles in several business parking lots and located a possibly stolen vehicle in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. A U-Haul van was reported stolen from Independence the day before. The U-Haul company requested the vehicle be towed from the parking lot. 

Pettis County Sheriff’s Office 

Arrests 

Oct. 5 

8:55 a.m.: Dimitri Denochick, Michael Washmon and Janel Holman were arrested on a charge of tampering with a motor vehicle. Deputies responded to the 1300 block of East Boonville Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle. They checked the vehicle’s registration and found it had been reported stolen from the Springfield area. Deputies made contact with three subjects who were in the vehicle and took them into custody.

Incidents 

Oct. 3 

11:20 p.m.: Deputies took a report of child abuse, which occurred near U.S. Route 65 and Sacajawea Road in Pettis County. After a full investigation, the Sheriff’s Office has referred the matter to the Pettis County Prosecuting Attorney for his consideration. 

Oct. 6 

Deputies responded to the Katy Trail in the area of Sacajawea Road for an assault that had occurred on the trail. Deputies searched with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the SPD K9 Unit but weren’t able to find the suspect. An investigation continues.

Oct. 8 

7 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of vandalism at Northwest Elementary School in Houstonia. An investigation continues.

Arrests 

Oct. 4 

1:55 p.m.: Lorenzo Marquez, 62, of Clarksburg, was arrested in Moniteau County on charges of driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident. 

Oct. 6 

12:20 p.m.: Mark V. Emery, 59, of Lee’s Summit, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. 

Oct. 7

1:30 a.m.: Willie R. Waddell, 50, of Otterville, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of felony driving while intoxicated, driving with a revoked/suspended license, speeding and not wearing a seat belt. 

8 p.m.: Diego O. Lazaro-Toma, 28, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving without a valid license.
